That mid/late-80s UK indie scene is one of my favourite periods for music! I wanted to be in a shoegazer band when I was in high school.

I will give sunns a listen, just for you. You are right that, except for Crystal Castles, I don't seem to have any Canadian artists in my top 50. Although according to my RYM account, I have 22 artists in my collection from Toronto alone! 17 from Montreal, a dozen or so from Vancouver, and even a couple from Winnipeg! Are you impressed? But I have none from Edmonton. :(

Chelsea Wolfe's covers are pretty different from the originals, but RP are an interesting band with an interesting history. I guess it depends on how much you like punk, but I think the lyrics would definitely interest you. They recorded an album inspired by HP Lovecraft and one of their albums was allegedly written while their singer/songwriter was in a mental institution. I see no harm in giving them a listen!
