Hello annahG! I saw that you got a nice taste of music and thought that you'd maybe like our music as well. We are three girls from the forests of Sweden and we are going to record our very first album in Woodstock this summer! We would love if you checked out this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmTj6CzmAp4 ! Let us know what you think (it's much appreciated) by commenting the video, and also check out our cover of 'Kathy's Song' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44kjqZUC5PU that we got the chance to play live for Paul Simon! Love, VIDAR

I haven't heard of Dead Man's Bones.. those musical ruts can be good though! I mean, I'm still trying to get over my Yo La Tengo obsession, but that hasn't been helped by the fact that they signed on to play at the summer festival in Iowa I had already bought tickets for (on the strength of Modest Mouse being there). :) It was pretty crazy how that worked out..I think the universe likes me. Annd I'm going to see The Antlers/The National in August. You saw the Antlers with Phantogram, right? How were they?

Mmm besides that new Foals album (which you must listen to), I've been diggin' this new band called Dom that sound a lot like Passion Pit, this other band called Beach Fossils which have a great summer feeeel, and remind me of Real Estate.. Did you ever check out that new National album, or their last one 'Boxer'? All goood stufff :) What have you been listening to lately? Oh, and when do you get to move back to Portland?? :D

Well I listened to the whole new Menomena album and I'm not entirely convinced tbh... anyway, there's quite a lot of great new music I've been digging, you can try The Kays Lavelle, they have a couple of free tracks here on last.fm, and Javelin as well, great little band. Hope you like them :)

Hey Annah in San Fran. Great taste, no matter which coast you're on. We share of bunch of bands, but I still see a few I'd like to check out. Always like to make friends with "Super" compatibilities. That way, I know that if you like a song or an artist, I probably will as well. Be my friend? Eric in New York

I am so ready for that Yeasayer (AND SLEIGH BELLS) show! Seriously. I have a term paper due that day, so it'll be like, relief music therapy (which is what I already use music for anyways). :) Also, to keep you in the know: Check out The National's new album, 'High Violet'. It's reallly good. And if you haven't heard their last album, 'Boxer' get that too! Brilliant stuff. The guys voice is really deep (and the drumming is great). ALSO, Sufjan contributes on the new album both instrumentally and vocally (check him out singing background vocals on 'Afraid of Everyone'). I wish he'd release his own album, but I'll take what I can get!

You were definitely right about Fanfarlo, it's really growing on me now! I love Comets and If It Is Growing.. did you like that new LCD? I love the first and the last track on it the most.. Drunk Girls is terrible, but everything else is pretty solid. I probably like his last album more, though.

I'm investigating The Dig, I located a link to their new album (couldn't find anything else)..I listened to Fanfarlo a few months ago and thought that I'm A Pilot song was really good.. nothing else stood out. I drove around some forest/park areas with my uncle (and his dog) listening to Le Loup's Family today.. it was so perfect! What a great album.

okay, SCARY. I was literally writing you a message when you sent that! Yes I do have a new recommendation: Tanlines. Get their new EP 'Settings'.. I reallllyyyy love the song 'Real Life', it freakin moves! oOoOO are funny, some people are callin' this type of music a new genre called 'witch house', which I think is hilarious. I'm waiting for P4K to start callin' it that as well. Check out their song NoShore and see what ya think.. I got addicted to it for some reason. Got any recommendations yourself?? Also, are you staying in earthquake safe buildings? I worry!

Checked out the video-- pretty sweet. I'm trying to get into Yeasayer but am not quite there yet-- I think a few more listens are in order. New Portugal is pretty cool, though I wasn't blown away with it as I was hoping to be... it's good and worth listening to but a few listens in, it's just so-so. Actually kind of random-- went on a blast from the past this week and saw Copeland and Deas Vail at the Hawthorne this week, which was a nice break from the norm. A band to check out if you haven't already: Foals. Their first album was probably the best dance rock I've ever heard and the new one coming out promises to be a bit more mature. Must hear.

I'd probably say "What You Know" is my fav so far, but that's only because I heard it on it's own (I tend to listen to the album the whole way through) way before I got the full album. I'll check out Caribou-- tried out a couple songs of theirs on hypemachine and liked them, so I'll try and pick it up soon. Also, I still somehow have never listened to Yeasayer so based on your recent top tracks, I'm getting right on it. Btw-- I second the P. TM recommendation... quality stuff.

omggg, you realize the singer on that track is from the Born Ruffians???? :) Yes you absolutely need to check out P.TM's new album (American Ghetto), it's very very good.. I feel ya on the busyness!!1 And yesh I'm a current subscriber, I wanted to see what it was like! I doubt I keep it for more than a couple of months though, unless they add some super sweet stuff all of a sudden.

I'm definitely liking Ramona Falls, some of the tracks like Russia are simply great, but the again I haven't listened to Menomena yet, so I guess I should give them a listen as soon as I can if you say they're better :) You should give Two Door Cinema Club a listen! They're really good and a bit electronic, looking at your library I reckon you should like them ;)

As soon as I read that Sleigh Bells were opening for Yeasayer I bought two tickets (one for my coworker, who until recently was unfamiliar with either). I honestly wasn't going to go, but Sleigh Bells live!?!??! I can't wait! It'll be so much fun, I'm sure. I'm also going to see Phantogram this thursday... exciting! As for The Ruby Suns, well that's complicated. I found their new album to be unfocused but fun. Like, the songs don't ever mesh together, and even inside of individual tracks they experiment a lot but it doesn't ever seem cohesive or anything.. idk. Really though, it's a fun album and I do like it. If I had to rate it out of 5 I'd give it a solid 3. What'd you think? Also, I stole Local Natives and The Morning Benders from you. And hey! The Morning Benders are a San Fran group.. you're like in between two of the hottest music scene cities right now.. GRRRRR (this is me again being jealous)

Welll let's see, I'm in contemporary politics, sociology of gender, geography, peace psychology, and a conflict resolution class focusing on Yugoslavia (and the Bosnian war, in particular). I was also talked into going to Bosnia over the summer with my teacher and 9 other students.. should be a good experience (and it's worth credit)! Driving back and forth between San Fran and Portland must be so amazing.. :)

Oh man, I'm really feelin' this! Don't Haunt This Place is GREAT. And I love the drums on about every song. Yes, school started. My classes are really interesting, but reading intensive. I'm reading 3 books simultaneously for my peace psychology class... argh. Luckily, I like what I'm reading. Just wish my head didn't feel like it was going to implode.. you didn't say how you've been! What's new in the wonderfully eclectic city of San Fran?

Billboards are breaking my spirits down... er, books I mean! I've got too much to read right now, and I'm probably going to move into the library. That means, unfortunately, that I'm going to probably start slippin' behind in the new music finding business. I did see that Hockey just got a good P4k review, so I may have to give them a second chance.. and I saw you were listening to some indie band I've never heard of last night.. The Rural Alberta Advantage? I saw people were comparing them to Neutral Milk on their last.fm wall and such so I figured they'd be interesting and DLed their album, don't know when I'll get a chance to listen to it though.. hopefully tonight! AHHHHH!!! How are you? :)

LOL I told you where I found it! http://elbo.ws/artist/active-child/ <---- GO HERE and then look for each of those four tracks (they're the only ones I know of thus far), it'll give you links to various blogs that you can pick them off of. Look for Wilderness, She Was A Vision, When Your Love Is Safe, and Voice of an Old Friend. There are also remixes floating around but avoid those, they're crap. As soon as I'm aware of new stuff I'll let ya know! I think I heard of him on gorillavsbear.blogspot.com first, but quite a few blogs have been pushing his shiz lately.. I just keep my ears to the streets! :D Also, you should become a 'fan' of him on facebook, he doesn't have very many and you can comment on things and he'll respond (potentially)! I've been becoming fans of my favorite indie obscurities lately and I've actually gotten to talk to the members of the bands, very cool. So far I've successfully corresponded with The Ruby Suns and Cymbals Eat Guitars. I heart the internet. :) :)

if you want to find that Active Child stuff, go to this site: elbo.ws/ and type in Active Child on the search. The songs I have are, "Wilderness, She Was a Vision, Voice of an Old Friend, When Your Love Is Safe." Wilderness and She Was A Vision are my favorites, but honestly, I love all of them. I have very high hopes for this guy. :)

Yesh I've listened to it, I liked it on my FIRST listen. :) Umm, fav track might be Alley Cats.. I love the chorus so much, "He is restless needs attention, loses patience seeks affection." Ahhh, good stuff! It's a very consistent album too, there's not really any bad tracks IMO. Sooo I guess I'll let you in on my new band, they're called Active Child. It's basically one dude from Los Angeles and his voice is so similar to Bon Iver.. it's amazing. I've only got 4 songs so far (it's really hard to find), but man, I think he could get huge. You have been warned!

You're familiar with Banksy!?!? Awesome. I have a fun story on how I officially discovered banksy (like two days ago). I was listening to Sufjan and decided to check the shouts for one of his songs, I think it was was To Be Alone With You.. I also wanted to make sure that I had hearted it (I had). Anyways, on the wall some dude said how he wished Sufjan would smile in his pictures, and that he's never seen him smile.. and so I was like hmmm I wonder if that's true... and so I started looking through all of Sufjan's pics and one pic was him sitting on some steps with some graffiti and bunch of people commented saying "Woah it's Banksy!" and "I can't believe I'm seeing Sufjan with Banksy!" etc etc, so I looked up Banksy and then spent the next several hours looking at everything he's ever done. I love him (Sufjan too). End story!
