I'm so pumped for don cabbie and some new the avalanches. Check them out if you have time. As for guitars, the distorted sound is really more based on the pickups you have, so the tele would probably sound pretty good through some gain. I'd recommend going to guitar center or some other store and trying a bunch of stuff out on the amps they have there. There's really no substitute for actually trying things out.
