I suppose it wouldn't mean a complete disintegration of the movement, but the ARI is the only very effective organization of actual Objectivists, and it seems as if members of it are involved in this whole trend. that's really the only basis I have for that prediction. but I was first introduced to heavy metal by my cousin about four or five years ago and after getting a hold of Iron Maiden's "Killers" I became enthralled by that type of music. the first thrash album I got was "Terrible Certainty" about three years ago and of course I developed a lust for it and I've been in love with it ever since. how did you come to love the stuff? and you haven't by any chance seen D.R.I. before?

if it's true that there are Objectivists intentionally working with the right--especially the religious right--then I think we might see the disintegration of the Objectivist movement as it now exists in the not too distant future. Rand always definitively condemned a compromise of values as a greater evil than collectivism itself. conservatism is certainly an obituary for freedom as Rand had put it, and it will become an obituary for the Objectivist movement itself if it sells out its principles in the process of promoting them through working with conservatives. it just occurred to me that this is a pretty odd place for such an interesting discussion, but I've certainly enjoyed it.

perhaps it has been happening more lately because of recent occurrences including the election of barack obama, but I also have definitely noticed this bizarre trend of Objectivists supporting conservatives. the same ones that condemned the libertarian movement for its corrupted versions of Objectivist principles are now involved in Tea Party rallies and are appearing on Fox News, often on the Glenn Beck Program. it seems to me like an attempt to promote Rand's ideas, but it is obviously being done in a way that Rand herself would probably not approve of. if it continues to progress though I think it could certainly have dire consequences for the Objectivist movement.

I've never known any scenesters that really embrace what she stands for, at least with any degree of sincerity, I've just met ones that like The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. but yeah, I love how you can see her ideas used by conservatives to combat the statist ideology of the left when at the same time they promote their own theocratic brand of statism.
