Oh damn, yeah that sucks. I live in South Georgia, bands hardly ever tour around here either. But I'm sure its way worse down there. I did get a chance to see Dads, The World Is a..., and Pity Sex a couple months ago. That was pretty awesome.

Duuuuude yeah the Brave Little Abacus ruuuules so hard. They've quickly become one of my favorite bands....ever. They're so rad. Have you seen the video of their last show? I've seen it like 3 times all the way through. But yeah, they're great. Wish I could have gotten the chance to see them before they broke up... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZZK4H3pBj4

Sure thing dude! As far as amazing emo, /mu/ seems to only talk about new twinkle-core releases and essentials as of late. You should check out this band called Inside. Some crazy vocals on their LP Seven Inches to Wall Drug. Heres a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTUQu7VEE4E and a download: https://mega.co.nz/#!JAUB0DxJ!cpLInW0CbJK33WYkxgLkFG0xdlk-7Qp9rTQM6p3Qpy8 Also, you should listen to this band http://cagematchmusic.bandcamp.com/album/cave-math its just some really well done modern indie emo. Also, I love this band called The Republic of Wolves. They have emo influences but are not truly emo (kind of like Brand New) Heres a download to their EP The Cartographer https://mega.co.nz/#!ANUwTLTB!fpq3hSomVz_SBcEQCTHTYikzuXcGkyJEhULk4FqTWsM and a sample if you want to check em out first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqvo1xTatEA

Master Musicians of Bukkakes album Totem Two and Comus album First Utterance are two great album within Freak Folk. Noise is harder though. Have you heard Yellow Swans album going places? It's kind of mellow which makes it a great starting point. Sheer Hellish Miasma by Kevin Drumm is good if you want to try something more harsher.
