yeah that terry manning is kind of a crazy twin to chilton's 1970 album. some of that stuff just makes me laugh out loud. the cover of savoy truffle is just ridiculous.

Re: Prog, damn! Yes and 70s Genesis are some of my faves and they're similar in a lot of ways. Museo Rosenbach is great too, a little italian prog. I really gotta give Kate Bush another listen just because I listened to one record and the production bugged me. Re: our musical compatibility, I noticed that too! I think the "super" thing might have been a fluke, but "Very High" is still pretty cool. One day I looked and we were "Very Low"...no idea what that was all about.

Supertramp: Whaddya think? Given their 'contemporaries', I feel like I should like them but there's something lacking...I also wish I hadn't read the band was financed by a foppish Dutch millionaire. Ok, I made up the foppish part. They got chops but I'd rather be listening to Yes or Genesis.

yeah like a hurricane sort of "blows" to borrow neil's own stupid metaphor, but i kind of like the guitar playing on this version.

stars n bars is a pretty nice peppy little album. kind of amazing i've never even heard this one. who's the band on it? kinda sounds like crazy horse based on the drumming, but otherwise it's a pretty light touch.

i thought i read that it was going to come out on dvd, didn't pay that much attention to the kind, but that would be pretty dumb if he only put it out on one subset of the format. fingers crossed, it sounds like it's gonna be a pretty staggering sedan delivered load.

btw, i'm guessing you've heard about the latest neil stocking stuffer...live in 68. haven't seen what it's about, but i have this feeling it's the show where that sugar mt. on decade comes from. i don't know why i think that. in any case, i saw two mentions of the neil career spanning BOX in rolling stone the other day. one mention of it as coming soon and then later mentioned as delayed until 2009. had to laff...

that is a piss poor review if ever i saw one. although i agree that it might be somewhat deceptive to put a real barn burner at the front of the album. in any event, i think it's a good record. i don't know death cab for cutie, so i'm not sure if that's an insult or not.

check out the songs No Fly and Oh Hey...by charlene...i think i put them on there, too...i have a sad, sneaking suspicion that this band may have broken up or gone into hibernation, which would be too bad.

i'm using pc...it's weird cuz it's not in all the folders. and where it does show up, it's not a duplicate, exactly cuz the size is totally different. it's strange. i'm wondering if i should just delete these small files. the normal size ones seem complete.

i notice in some folders there are two versions of each track. one is invariably 4kb and the other is the normal file size? did you notice this or have you seen it before?

holy smokes...you really connected with john martyn...yeah he's kind of an obsession. i really love Sunday's Child. a couple of those songs on there are wild...like Root Love. kind of ridiculous, but i love it. also has some of his most beautiful, atmospheric moments like Spencer the Rover and Call Me Crazy...take a look on you tube for him. there's some good stuff to be seen.

fyi, i seem to have come across a better recording of most of what i sent you on that performing gibsons set. apparently he put out some of that stuff on a collection called...i can't recall the name, something with orphans in the title. but do take a listen, there are some great bits. take a listen to the song baby ruth. i think it's tremendous. i'm not sure if that's an original or a cover (could be either with him), but it's a great song / performance. should've been a hit, etc.

oh man, you've gotta hear the rest of his albums if you haven't yet. yeah very appropriate for this time of the year. solid air's great as are bless the weather, inside out, and i'm particularly into Sunday's Child which is just off the wall in a lot of ways...also the two he did with his wife (at that time), beverly...Stormbringer is excellent, though i find a lot of her songs...difficult.
