Analytical skills, yeah... Our teachers emphasize on analytical skills and deduction. Our Inorganic Chemistry assured that we only had to memorize a few formulas and everything else could be deducted from that applying some logic. Except that I must be very dumb and slow because that was supposed to be one of the "easy" subjects in 1st year and it drove me insane! They're also very keen on letting us figure out things in the lab on our own. They explain us little about the experiments on purpose, so we screw up in the first try and learn from our mistakes.

Well, what I've studies this year was called "Fundammentals of Immunology" more like an introduction. I think we'll study the subject in depth in the 4th and 5th year (which still seem very very far away). Intrummental Analysis used to be a bigger subject compounding both Chemical and Instrumental Analysis, but some years ago (long before I went to college) they split it into two different subjects. This doesn't make much sense because both subjects are tightly related to each other and go hand in hand, but most of the modifications they've made in the past years make little sense. If everything goes well, this year I'll have Human Phisiology. Phisiology is enough difficult as it is, but the teachers are evil bastards. The Head of the department is a bitter, soulless douche who should be working in research and not giving lectures.

Hey, how are you doing? I'm studying some Instrumental Analysis and I can't understand ANYTHING! Blahblah electrodes blahblah Nernst equation blah. Damn it's so boring. By the way, are you studying Biochemistry or Inmunology in your current course? I wonder how different are the schedules between our schools.

Oops I meant "parents SHOULDN'T decide your career for you" (and I should check what I type before posting ¬¬) About your question, I'm not really sure. Maybe I thought a vet career didn't have as many job options as pharmacy, which seemed like a field with a wider spectrum. Or maybe I wanted to be slightly impulsive and jump into the unknown, because to be honest, I only had a vague idea of what the pharmacy career was about before I started college. I meant I thought "What's a pharmacist? Um... a person behind a desk that gives you paracetamol and ati-acne creams? And they work in labs too...I guess" XD No, seriously. I think back then it really didn't make much of a difference to me which career I chose because the only thing I was convinced of was that I wanted to be a scientist. And no matter how much information they give to you, you have no idea of what university is really about until you're there.

Oh... your parents forced you to? That sounds... complicated. To be honest I'm not sure of my reasons to take up Pharmacy, for the last two years of High School I was convinced I wanted to be a vet. But in the last four or three months it all changed suddenly. Sorry to hear about your university, I complain about mine sometimes, but I guess we all have good and bad things in the places we live! But I think parents should decide your career for you. I mean when you're 18 and you have no money and depend on them they have some control over you, but they have to realize that one day their kids will leave the nest and that they can't rule your life forever. Sorry I'm just being general, I have no idea of what I'm talking about. I have no intention of offending you and your family.

Haha, yes, what a coincidence! Sometimes I actually regret choosing this course instead of Veterinary or Nursing or something like that, specially when my head is about to explode with so much o-chem. Although I always knew I wanted to study in the Biological Sciences field, I can't picture myself doing anything else. How are the universities in Phillippines?

Yup, like you I've read all his works but Wind Up Bird stood out the most for me. I also recommend The Sayonara Bar by Susan Barker. It's very much its own thing, but has a Murakami-like essence to it that is very compelling...
