Actually I think I was listening to Lex Macpherson's year-end list when that one happened, so kudos to him!

I vote yes on all four of those. :D And also red hair. Being red is the fun-est I think. Was me last summer. Bah! So much upkeep required though.

Reiff is actually the Christian side of the family, but yeh you called it. Jew-ish. Emphasis on the "ish" bit. Are you not like my Québecois long lost twin who has decided to keep his natural hair colour? haha

Haha il doit être quelque chose d'être appelé Alex qui nous oblige à écouter de la musique à toutes les heures de la journée, n'est-ce pas?

I don't know how this thing works.. I just clicked on the thing that synced this with my iTunes or something? really, it's all in french and I was skimming, so must be magic.

"six inch walker, big shit talker - never played the victim, i'd rather be the stalker" - it uses slash for heaviness not cheesy wannabe rawk. this is a great album!

I'll let our fellow last fm users be the judge. Tay 3rd has only 7 listeners to Tayf3rd's 146.

Hi there! Apologies for creeping but I can't help but notice that you have excellent taste in music and enjoy QC. Also, I love your philosophies towards pop music.

Oh man, seeing you on Parliament Hill last week was so Ottawa. Speaking of, did you get Leonard Cohen tickets?

Hmmm. Well I've sounded off prematurely (having just actually finished the thing) and of course I *like* it, but that isn't even close to enough. In fact, I will find a way to turn my enjoyment into the album's biggest flaw. I will hurt everything without thinking of the consequences, and then sort of try to make up for it in the second half of my album...er, series of blog posts. Just like Kelly used to do.

that was actually the first time i'd heard it!! it's a danja-produced banger and really excellent. definitely hyped for fantasy ride again, esp as 'never ever' has grown on me (though not to the extent that i think it should be the single). did you say you had the whole unreleased kiley album?? 'stay away from my boyfriend', 'busy' and 'keep it moving' are A+ too...as for 'america', i like to think of it as the prequel to bubba sparxxx's 'nowhere' (on which kiley sings the hook) - on 'america' she's fantasising about how "nowhere's the place to go", on 'nowhere' she sings this weary lament about how "i know what it's like to be nowhere"...

There's a better version of the "50 Ways" cover on their first album! They've been kicking around Detroit circles for a while, doing their own thing and some outside production. Both their albums are v. good btw and worth checking out.

They changed the way compatibilities are formulated a couple weeks back. It seems to be more focused on recent listening and a broader base of artists than before when it was just like, "Do you have the same top few all-time artists regardless of whether you've listened to them in the past year or whether the rest of your tastes overlap at all? Good, you're SUPER!" Neighbors seem to have changed in a similar way.

Yeah, her discography seems to be a bit convoluted. Her website sez: Releases: The Oscillations EP (CD/MP3)- Self Release 2005 day.break (MP3 Only) - Rxlngr 2007 pre.lude (CD/MP3) - (Japanese Release) Circulations 2008 day.break 2.0 (CD Only) - Rxlngr 2008 The Oscillations: Sine (MP3 Only) - Rxlngr 2008 The Oscillations: Triangle (MP3 Only) - Rxlngr 2008 The Oscillations 2XLP (CD/MP3) - Rxlngr 2009 But it also has "The Oscillations: Triangle - February 10th 2009" plastered all over the place, so apparently that one's not out yet. I dunno about itunes, but Amazon MP3 has day.break and Osc: Sine.

Yeah, I d/led it about a week ago, but never got around to listening til today. I'd only heard the two songs on Got Purp, vol. 2. I think I like her better doing more traditionally-structured material than doing showily ambitious stuff like Metropolis.

The new one's charms aren't as immediately apparent as RoV's, but I think there may be a lot more musical depth to it. If nothing else, they've made a nice leap from mimics to syncretists. Except for the freestyle jam (which kinda sticks out like a sore thumb, you can't really go "this is the tango song" and "this is the bossa song" and this is the "cumbia song". "La Perla" is my favorite from the album.

If a committee is not already employed by Cassie for this express purpose, I would feel sorely let down. (Oh, who am I kidding, the girl can probably barely afford her own personal manicurist at this point.)

'STAND BY ME' OF COURSE, duhhhh. Again, dragged back to Cassie's own introverted territory. Love the way that despite the jibes, her voice is front and centre of the track; love the synth hits washing in. (I think it goes "I'm in love with u; I don't love u; I think I'm in love with the DJ.")

it is THIS: http://www.4shared.com/file/77201657/8c726ed8/Cassie_-_Summer_Charm_-_Parry_Gill_-_xclusiveznet.html I just heard it for the first time. It's AMAZING. What the hell is it reminding me of?

Congrats on being done school! And that makes sense. At least you get free coffee. Though, while a big fan of coffee, I would take free concerts! I'm going to the one in Ottawa. I was going to see them last year I think, but I never got tickets. While they probably won't play much from Silent Alarm (perfect album, I think), I still want to see them at least once before they realize they're too big to come to Ottawa, haha.

Massive is just the word. The "oh-OH-oh-oh" section is huge enough on the original but the rmx turns it onto this incredible vertiginous rollercoaster.

the best bassline mix was DJ Apostle's The Elements of Bassline - http://www.ukrecordshop.com/item/dj-apostle-the-elements-of-bassline.html I don't think there are any official funky mixes yet! there are many radio sets linked on the ILM thread though (many of which I haven't had time to hear yet) - and Geeneus' album (out this week, or next week, or some week) apparently comes with a mixed CD2 which looks like an A+ overview of the scene: http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/7977827/Volumes-1/Product.html

I did not know these things existed. Yeah, swiped the rec from a friend via Sasha Fierce-Jones -- possible sleeper hit of the year for me (and best mixtape by a longshot, which isn't saying much), not sure if it will make my lists tho...hmmm "Try Again" mash-up just played again, though, and I'm reconsidering. It's really really good.
