Ambiguous tag... very ambiguous. But I like thrashcore!

  I feel like thrashcore is like the predecessor to powerviolence; basically just very fast hardcore punk. Crossover thrash is more like the midpoint between thrash metal and hardcore punk.

  In other words, this tag is misused on last fm. Municipal Waste aren't thrashcore at all. They're crossover thrash, and... shit...

  Yeah, people often confuse thrashcore with crossover thrash, and it's understandable. Simplyfing, I'd say thrashcore properly means hardcore punk with blast-beats (mostly American-sounding type), and in the 1980s "thrash" term was often used to describe any hardcore bands who emphasized speed more than others. Powerviolence is an off-shoot of thrashcore, and I'm not sure how to describe it correctly, not that much familiar with this scene to begin with. It seems to me that many PV bands are basically just modern thrashcore, but many of them also use sudden transitions between fast and slow parts and sometimes add sludge elements to the mix.
