Sound Storm was founded in 2002 in Turin, a city in the north west of Italy. Back in those days the band consisted of six members and played classical heavy metal songs, like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Savatage and many other bands, cover versions.
Soon the band started composing their own material, with the first three or four tracks finished by the end of 2003.
In October of 2005 the band decided to record six original songs in their own private studio, which resulted in the release of the demo "The Storm Is Coming".
In September 2006 Sound Storm entered again the recording studio to record the new Ep, "Northern Wilderness".
The new Ep has been released on the 1st of February 2007.
During the year 2008 the band spent a lot of time to compose, arrange and rehearse the first full length. The results is Sound Storm's debut album, entitled “Twilight Opera” which has got an incredible high quality production, strings section, a 9-pieces choir.
The album has been mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila.
In May 2009 Sound Storm signs a worldwide record deal with the British label Rising Records which releases “Twilight Opera” all over the world, including Japan and Canada.
The album has been released in Europe on Aug. 28th, in UK , Ireland on Aug. 31st, in Japan on Aug. 31st , where the album is immediately in heavy metal bestsellers top 10 reaching position number 2 in the biggest music retail outlets in the Country: Tower Records.
On August 30th Sound Storm celebrates the release of the album with a live show at "Ilha Do Ermal" festival, the biggest metal fest in Portugal, with bands such as Blind Guardian, Angra, Sepultura, Korpiklaani, Firewind and many more.
Due to the collapse of SPV, the label’s European distribution, which caused many delays and inconveniences concerning the release in stores, a new distribution deal became necessary.
On 25th January 2010 “Twilight Opera” has been released worldwide , this time via Plastic Head Distribution.
A video clip of the song “Torquemada” has been released in March 2010 and it reached the second prize in an important video clip contest, among a lot of other musical and video genres. This allowed the band to get even more success all around the world thanks to the many views of it on the Youtube channel.
In March 2010 the band signed a deal with Go Down Believing for European booking and tours.
In summer 2010 Sound Storm toured Mexico for the first time: the band played 11 gigs across the Country getting and incredible success and many hundreds people were attending each show.
In the meantime a new album has been composed and arranged: a new 4-songs promo was recorded in January 2011 at “The Metal House” studio, mixed and mastered by Ettore Rigotti (Disarmonia Mundi, Destrage, Slowmotion Apocalypse, Stigma, etc).
The new album is the real sound of Sound Storm, much more complex, symphonic and aggressive than “Twilight Opera”.
