This album is totally different from the rest. It's not really Stoner Rock and more Hardrock with Punk elements. They didn't found their sound yet. It's good and enjoyable but far away from the other records and I wouldn't show this to people when asked about Kyuss or Stoner Rock.

I'm reading this while listening to the album and the band for the first time. :D

How could they pretend that this one did not exist as their debut?! It sounds different but far from bad album.

I always liked this one a lot, probably as much as Welcome to Sky Valley. I especially enjoy the raw attitude and energy. The bad production gives a very "garage" sound to the album which I also find quite enjoyable. The bass sounds terrible though...

I agree with you MisterJunior, in terms of the quality of the tracks presented, they're actually amazing, I enjoy the Punkier vibe they went with on this one. I think it's the production that annoys people the most, it's just not quite there yet on this one.

I don't get the distaste for this one that a lot of Kyuss fans seem to have. I would agree that it doesn't quite match the others in terms of overall quality, but this is a very, very good record made by guys who were only 19-20! Think about that. It was also made with less of a budget than the other records, so in addition to the guys being a little less technically proficient with their instruments, Wretch has a much rawer sound about it than the later albums. What it lacks in polish and subtlety, though, it makes up for with shit-kicking metal and punk-inflected tunes that are more straightforward and not as spacey as the material generally regarded as classic by most. "I'm Not," "(Beginning of What's About to Happen) Hwy 74," "Katzenjammer," "Black Widow," "Stage III" -- if these are "bad" songs to you, you need to pull your head out of your ass, clean your ears and listen more closely. I've got this one in double clear vinyl and it sounds incredible. Play it loud!

Funny, I hated this album when I got it about 2001. Seemed cheesy. Now, I frickin' love it.

What do you mean "bad production"?? The production quality is staggering (especially loud)!

And now I read few other comments, and I must say, music is like music, even if it sounds perfect or looks (in movies) like true eye candym it donst matter a thing if there isnt nothing behind that hollow cover, and this one has it all, and like "rangsta-gapp" said it, the sound is one thing that makes thi album so great! :)

I must confess, the old geezeer and all I am, but still I went with the media with this album "the worst album of kyuss, red sun is the first , not this" etc... , and just a moments ago, a finished listening this album for the whole and I must say... MY GOD. this is so great grunge-stoner album, or if I play a little more with those stupid genre names, Pre-stonergrunge... something pure, raw, full of energy... dont get me wrong, I love every Qotsa album, and I really mean it, every1 of them, J.H. is the god, but, this night, after all these sigarettes and hits and f..drinkx, FOK!!!! I just LOVE THIS!!! :). Maybe I must listen to songs of kyuss also again, after almost 20 years after abandoning it (but forgive me, I was a "true" death/trash metal head back then. :P). Long live the Desert Gods/Queens. First was the ice age, let the stone age began!!! :)

Yeah, fix this please! Also, it says that this album was released 0 1991. I might be picky but I find it annoying.
