Good question for both a trakt newbie and a veteran. The only useful thing I find about the app is the setup of automatic scrobbles in different streaming platforms. Apart from that it's confusing and not user friendly for someone who, like me, has been used to the website for years. The problem is the automatic scrobbling doesn't always work, so... If you don't use something like Stremio which already scrobbles to trakt automatically and don't mind inputting your scrobbles manually, id say stick to the website, only. When you have your profile up and running let me know so we can be friends, there! Any more help I'll be here to, we'll, help.

the best thing about the website so far is that it let me import all my watch history from TV Time which is a website i used for a long time. i like that trakt incorporates the concept of scrobbling; there's something satisfying about checking your logs and looking at what you were into during different time periods. this is something that's abstracted away in TV Time, you just have the shows with progress and no date and time data even though they still log them anyways. my shows are weird and scattered throughout different services, been logging them manually for years. though i'll definitely explore scrobbling options. the most annoying thing about the website by far is how half of the features including most of the stats features are pay-walled, UX is meh but growing on me. otherwise all's great, i appreciate the help tks.

my profile is ready i'd say aside from having 0 movies. i've never been that much of a movie person, i rarely watch them and almost never log it when i do. i might fix that someday when i have time. i've always been more of a TV show guy and most of my TV history is already on my profile, i think i'm done setting it up for now. i'm ‘thedadbrains’ on there as well. can't wait for you to judge my semi-basic taste.

I have no idea what was that show you were watching at the time. Seemed like a Turkish or Indonesian thing, but what do I know? 😅 Are you still trying Trakt or have you given up, by now?

I really need to know your opinion on Poppy.Computer because I just came across it and remembered I was obsessed with it in 2017!!!! and you know... she's not exactly doing that kind of music anymore!

i like it but don't go back to it as much as her other stuff. it has some of her cheekiest, irony rich, meta-commentary rich lyrics to date, it was a very creative way to mock internet culture and consumerism. Its sonic identity also is so different from stuff released in that time period. i'm glad it's part of her extensive discography and definitely see the appeal.

it's true that her music is different now but she still makes pop bangers sometimes. you should listen to ‘crystallized’ and ‘Motorbike’ if you haven't already.

I just did and I'm kinda gagged honestly, I had no idea she sometimes still did this kind of synth-heavy pop, it reminded me of "My style"

she likes to change things up every now and then, the album ‘Motorbike’ is from ‘Zig’ is technically (i̶n̶d̶u̶s̶t̶r̶i̶a̶l̶) pop. ‘My Style’ is a great track from p.c! i love it. though i must say my favorite is ‘Pop Music’

And if you're able to, please check out my current obsession. It's quite literally an obsession, for me. The whole comeback album is great, but that song in particular has gained control of my brain. Plus, the video is funny. Britpop was probably something that passed around you, but I lived very much that era, intensively. Jarvis Cocker has a great, distinctive voice and is an absolutely wonderful lyricist!

i did and damn! it's so good. i love me some brit pop! it was so pleasant to listen to and well written that i decided to check the video which itself blew me away. it's so creative and self aware and well... of the current times. i especially loved the message at the end of it. been doing some frustrating ai research in the past few months. this is a reminder that it can be used fun stuff such as making artistic statements instead of just doing boring studies or generating slop. it also makes me wanna listen to the whole thing.

after listening to Àgætis byrjun 100 times from start to finish i can't really decide whether my next obsession should be over ( ) or Valtari. i love both so much it's hard to pick. heck i even sampled some Kveikur tracks lately which kinda made me consider obsessing over it instead just because i'm in the mood for some evil sounds lately. i see you, yourself, are a Valtari boy. what do you think?

you're probably right, i did listen to ( ) and Valtari all the way through multiple times. they're nothing alike as you said. chronologically might be the way at least when it comes to these two. i feel like the only way to fully appreciate this band is to obsess over each of their albums the same way i did with galactic fetus. i'll leave the album with the nude guys last i guess. i always assumed that was the members of the band on the cover for some reason. Átta is alright imo, slightly boring. it likely will be my penultimate obsession.

THEKILLINGSPREE
Yes, the naked guys are the band members. Jonsi's debut solo album (dunno if he did any others) is also worth a listen. I always found it odd that the band said Valtari would be impossible to play live, so they never toured it. Why is it impossible to play live? If it was recorded, it can be replayed. Anyway, it's always a particular bit of trivia about that album that I find interesting.

they have cute butts. i listened to ≈2 songs from that Jonsi album and liked them. will prioritize giving it a proper listen now that you say it's good. a Valtari tour would've changed the world. hope they try playing some of the songs on there of their future shows. they probably can figure out how to do it if they recorded them to begin with as you said.

i love the stuff you recommend, i'll have to check this out. that Jesu album (the one that has Tired Of Me) in particular is one i still go back to quite often. as to recs, i haven't been listening to much new music this year having not had much free time, listening to stuff i already knew was much more appealing than exploring releases. the only new album i listened to was Addison Rae's debut which aside from being average isn't your type of music to begin with. anyways, you might like this: https://youtu.be/sgB4aId65fE?si=XBmMtc7tAfwCqth_ it's not new but i discovered it 1 year late, such a vibe.

yeah, in all honesty that Cindy Lee album is too long for my liking. i discovered the song through listening to it on shuffle on a stressful day earlier this year. i then immediately switched to 🔂 and ended up listening to it on repeat for a few days. it's so calming.

it sadly isn't made for her fans who mostly like her music for its playfulness and the experimentation she does. instead it's a metalcore jukebox type record marketed for the masses. i hate how basic and repetitive that made it. but ig it's making her more popular than ever so i can't really be too mad at it. i mostly listen to vital and title track. with that said i hope the next album is nothing like it.

Wow, Poppy is quite the eclectic gal when it comes to music! She touched one of the very few good Radiohead albums 🤭 and FUCKING BORIS!! I was ecstatic when I saw her talking about them! They're still the LOUDEST band I've ever seen live. Boris has some rocking tunes (and their "Farewell" song makes me wanna slit my wrists and cry to death but in a peaceful way), but their older drone stuff is hard to get into (I still can't). Which is a nice segue to Sunn O))), as I've tried listening to the band several times and each time I only got a headache out of it. Props to Poppy, but I for being able to digest that. And props to you for coming out of turbulence. I'm still THEKILLINGSPREE... For now.

that screencap of her holding pablo honey is on of my favorites. she's got taste. i first got into Sunn O))) a couple years ago when i could barely do any repetitive task without background music. their stuff was the right type of distraction for me at the time. it's creative but has a specific time and place for me. listening to it casually would likely give me the same type of headache tbh. most of my exposure to Boris was through their collab album with Sunn but i loved everything else i heard from them. good stuff!

not to compare, they're both good. it's definitely impressive being able to effortlessly pull off harsh vocals. i saw some youtube people break down poppy's screaming technique and it's inherently challenging to do especially doing it for like an hour long sets but from what i saw she keeps getting better and better at it.

You think too highly of me. I'm trash. But, regardless, I do recommend you to give the new Gaga a listen. I haven't been interested in anything she'd done in ages, but yesterday I skimmed through a solid review, from a reputable source, of her new algum, claiming it was a proper comeback, and, while listening to it, it really felt like I was back in 2009, again. Wonderful stuff! Sigur Rós > everything. Back in the good old days, at least. Saw them live three times during different eras, all shows were epic. It's definitely a very good band to get addicted to and listen to on repeat. They make that kind of music that takes us to a whole new world, a new plane of existence. Pure audio drug.

you've probably had a consistently good music taste for years, ofc i'd value your opinion silly :&. also you're wrong about yourself, idk you personally but i'm sure you're a wonderful person. so start giving yourself more credit, eh. i, by now, have heard a couple of songs off of MAYHEM and they've been quite entertaining. definitely sounds nostalgic which i'm here for. i've never necessarily considered myself a fan of hers but the star quality in her work is undeniable. as to Sigur Rós i can't imagine how spiritual it would be to actually experience the songs live, you're so lucky for having done it 3 times. i should look up some concert footage sometime. honestly i barely feel like listening to any music nowadays except for losing myself in their lengthy tracks. they quiet my brain. attesting to the ‘audio drug’ statement

I'm sure they love it and it's totally deserved, getting such an accolade in celebration for their career has got to be emotionally rewarding. But then they tend to get another sort of attention (they get more mainstream) and that usually comes with a shift in the musical style (and, consequently, musical quality). I'm not really worried for CXCX, though, since she turned to poop long ago, with Boom Crap 🙃
