Hey Emilie. See you've got Warpaint amongst your top artists. Went to see them at Summer Sundae in Leicester last year. They were absolutely awesome. One of the loudest bands I've heard and I was lucky enough to see GNR and Skid Row back in the 90's who were really loud but Warpaint I reckon weren't far off- amped up to 11 as they say!

Faith is a thematic album which The Cure are just pleasingly good at. I also love the way my favourite band wrote a song about my favourite book with 'The Drowning Man'. Also (again), at this point Robert Smith's lyrics hadn't deteriorated to the point where they had to feature 'gone', 'love', 'girl' or 'heart' to exist, haha.

I have the TIB remaster - I adore Winter on that album, and one of the tracks the label pushed was 'World War', which The Cure hated but I actually really like. I don't have the Faith remaster though, but I'd like it - Faith's a pretty strong album. I bought Seventeen Seconds recently, but I'm really not sure what to make of it... I like the famous ones Play For Today and A Forest, and especially At Night but it's still the sound of a band finding it's feet.

Ha well having just said that I've kind of gone off them now, I think they're one of those bands where you go massively over the top when you first hear them, then realise they're not all you cracked them up to be. Ahh well. Oh I see you're doing Bestival! Did you go last year? Was so good x

Hey, I know this is kinda random, but do you know/like Yuck? I just noticed you like a lot of shogaze and I've been listening to them a lot recently. Rubber is especially good.

good luck with the acoustic guitar, I recommend a keyboard/organ also, with just a lttle technique etc you can make interesting sounds, I dont know any chords but enjoy "playing" with little sophistication, its great fun and every now and then you get these little (i mean really little!!) flashes of brilliance, usually by accident, I'm lucky enough to have access to a rehearsal space, Velvet underground derumkit, farfisa organ, bass, guitar and vocals, old sad men trying to be Lou Reed, thats about it, we could do with some foxy fermale vox!!
