Hello there! Since you're the discovery leader among my friends and we have super compatibility, I would like to know if there are really good ones you'd want to share with me. Regards.

Given Empty Space Meditation a good number of listens and....overall I'm liking it. They've toned down some elements that set them apart (vocals/chanting largely) but the more typical atmospheric BM sound suits my tastes - it's just the final track which doesn't sit quite right. I think I'm glad that they've finally released a full length! Though they've still yet to play anywhere near me bah.

I see we're finally getting another album from Urfaust this October, good news indeed...

Hey! Yeah I gave Zhrine a listen couple months back, pretty impressive. It's quite crazy the quality of output from Iceland considering its size, really do need to get myself over there at some point soon...You listened to the latest from Schammasch and Almyrkvi?

Greetings! How's this year going so far for you? Found any gems released this year thus far? For me, Oranssi Pazuzu are leading the way, yet another ambitious album from them

I was glad to catch Nightbringer a few weeks ago - they were immense, one of the best bands I've seen this year along with Negative Plane...that softened the blow of missing out on NBM. *Still* need to see Urfaust, they never seem to play anywhere remotely nearby, would definitely like to see TRoB again, and Perturbator would be very intriguing to see live.

Heya! I'm still about in spite of what they've done with this site although annoyingly with no journal functionality, will have to break my tradition of posting my list here . Think I'm done for this year so did pull together a top ten and post on Metal Archives - Serpent Noir made the cut and a few other honourable mentions for bands you've recommended so thanks for them! Been a good year for music for you?

Thanks for the heads-up of the new releases, slowly working my way through :) Just having a little time out from music, well....do have about four gigs a month for the rest of the year which is a lot for me, but not so much listening at home.

I'm also proper stoked that Nightbringer have announced a show on my shores along with Misþyrming and Mgla - it looks like I'm not missing out on NBM V as much after all!

Hey! It's been a while...I was a little concerned about seeing who sticks around on this beta version as it's pretty poor so far... Admittedly, I haven't listened to many new releases lately, seems to have dried up a bit, and have also been busy with holidays to Stockholm and Norway :) But I'd recommend new albums from Sunset in the 12th House (if you like Dordeduh/Negura Bunget), Lychgate and Witchsorrow. I know they're quite divisive bands but I have enjoyed the latest from Ghost and Myrkur too... Any new recommendations yourself? You've given me some gems so far this year...

loving the groove on Serpent Noir's latest and guitar tone in general - reminds me of Verdunkeln in parts - impeccable release

Just wondering...have you got any opinions on Osculum Infame's first album? I've been slowly listening to the bands you mentioned and although I haven't really been taken in by Axis of Blood, their debut is another matter...

...I'm extremely jealous about you going to Black Mass! Just no way I could make it (well, mainly it selling out incredibly fast didn't help...) The disappointment of missing out has been dampened slightly with Negative Plane playing London in July but to see Nightbringer, TRoB (again), Perturbator, Urfaust....just a dream line up!

Arcturus are immense live - Vortex really has nailed the front-man act. I didn't make it to their tour in the end although noticed they played the same set when I saw them last, bar two new songs. Didn't notice Akhlys in your library, thought I was onto something there hah. What about Misþyrming? Really getting into their debut album...Iceland seems to be a hot-bed of talented black metal at the moment. Time to head to metal-archives to check out your latest recs ;)

To return the favour, I recommend to you Akhlys - side project of Nightbringer member and their new release is very similar in sound as well. Got through half of your recent recommendations so far!

I'll get back to you soon on all those you mentioned, I'm quite slow at getting round to checking new releases out! But many thanks yet again :) Funnily enough, Shining and Tribulation playing the festival I'm going to tomorrow.....though looking forward to seeing Oranssi Pazuzu again the most.

Just listening to Arcturus now :D Seeing them next week as well! Checking out all of Djevel's albums as I liked what I heard from Nettlecarrier so thanks for the heads up on both! Where should I start with Peste Noire - one of those bands I've known for ages but never got round to listening to?
Actions

On first listen, am liking Nettlecarrier....there's something just a little different about them that separates them from the standard BM template....more listens required to appreciate further!

Haven't even heard of Nettlecarrier before but am curious, seeing that it's got the ex-drummer from Gehenna/Enslaved...and not checked out Clandestine Blaze either. Got them both downloading though, so shall get back to you on them - thanks for the heads up! My listening habits have gone slightly off kilter lately but back on it now, got plenty of new releases to get through.

Thanks for the heads-up! Will keep a look out for it. New album from A Forest of Stars out today - I'd highly recommend them as their last two albums made my charts!

No rush, look forward to reading it when it's done! I had my hard drive die on me last year so have felt your pain - had the fun of ripping my 300+ CD collection all over again... (backed up now of course) I'm lucky to be seeing Ascension (and Bolzer) next month so will pick up a copy of the album then, it's really grown on me. I see there's an album from Urfaust coming next month and a song released today - this year is lining up very nicely for new albums already!

-
-SleepingStar-
Have you listened to the new album from Ascension? Was a late release last year so only just round to giving it a good listen - highly recommended if you haven't!

It seems that you are somewhat close to the Nidrosian guys, do you have any idea when a Mare or OTOH full-length will be coming out? Both bands already play a lot of unreleased songs in their live sets, and quite frankly they sound a lot more promising than what is already released

Oh, I was at that show. I think you were the girl that got the CDs and shirts I bought from Bjorn before the show started towards the end. I was a skinny asian guy
