I can't wait to see them again! I could have sworn I saw you, but I didn't move in case it wasn't cuz I had a good spot, haha. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised when they played Blizzard of '96. I had thought they'd play Wake Up over that, but hopefully you'll get to hear it next time. I knew they'd play All Hands and The Cook too, that sounded wicked live!

Hey - I think I saw you at the concert last night. Were you holding a lighter at one point? Hahaha.

I would love if they played those songs, especially Bows + Arrows because I think it's my favourite by them. Would be a really mellow track to close with, too. But yeah, I'd really love if they played some songs from their first album. I'm hoping the other Lisbon bonus tracks leak somehow, because some of them you can only get if you buy it on iTunes or if you get the vinyl. I wonder if they'll do the whistling for Juveniles when they play it live, that'd be sweet haha.

Sounds cool. My roommate had a radio show of her own last year, I was jealous. Glad you gave some love to EWPTLMIG, people seem to forget how amazing their early stuff was. But yeah, I'm counting the days til the concert. I know they will play We've Been Had and MAYBE Wake Up, but I expect mostly Lisbon stuff. But yeah I love Torch Song, one of my faves on Lisbon. I hope they play While I Shovel the Snow too, even though it's so slow. That might be my favourite.

Oh my bad, haha. That's awesome though. I'd love to do something like that - good way to impose my taste on everyone. But knowing me it'd just be all Walkmen all the time, hahaha. I'm so fond of their first album, but I think they will mostly play stuff from You & Me and Lisbon. Either way, I'm so excited!

I love how they've evolved too, and I admire their ability to still sound like themselves whilst experimenting with new sounds. I do hope in the future though that they revisit some of their old sounds...I loved the upright piano from their first album, and I hope they continue to have some songs with horns. I'll definitely have to look into more of their b-sides. Anyways, I'm literally counting down the days til the Toronto concert. For the longest time the only Canadian tour dates they had were a few shows in Vancouver with The National or at a festival in Montreal. I was wondering why they wouldn't come to Toronto, but now they are and I'm glad you said they keep coming back, because I'll deff be going everytime they're here from now on! Anyways, I read at the top of your profile that you have a radio show at Brock U - that's so awesome man. I almost went to Brock 'cause I'm from the Falls, and I have a ton of friends that go there. How are you liking it?

I agree with the whole idea of it being summery. I have a friend who once told me that he saw The Walkmen as a wintery band, and I understood where he was coming from. For me, their past albums have always had a kind of poetic gloom to them, which I love. But I do love their new sound as well. I really hope they release an EP of the other songs, I also read that interview and it would kill me if those songs never got to see the light of day, haha. I love their covers usually and I do hope to find a download of Pussy Cats that isn't all grouped together in one long file. They do a cover of "There Goes My Baby" by The Drifters that I just love. Anyways, I'm seeing them live for the first time in Toronto this coming October and it honestly can't come soon enough. I haven't seriously listened to any other artists since being introduced to The Walkmen - I just keep coming back to them. :) I'm jealous that you've seen them, when did you go?

I knew a few of the songs ahead of time too; saw a few youtube videos from their tours in 2009. I'm actually pissed that they cut the whistling in the opening of Juveniles, I liked the way it sounded haha. Oh well. I'm happy with the new album too, sounds a lot like old school surf rock at times, or reminiscent of 50's do-wop. It is definitely lighter than past albums, and at first I felt like they'd lost their edge, but after a few more listens I liked it better. Plus, it's good they are experimenting with new and different sounds. I downloaded Pussy Cats but it showed up as one long file and I couldn't listen to the songs individually so I deleted it, haha.

Maybe I'm just flattered by the album, as I come from a post-communist country myself. The funny thing is actually, that at first when I listened to Face Control, I found it quite boring, but then I just kept playing it as background music and doing other stuff like playing poker and surfing around the internet and then I started to hear the more interesting parts that took my attention from my doings. In my mind, both albums are quite equal with their ups and downs. Walking down a cold street and listening to Radio Kaliningrad. Man it's the best.

The best place to start, along with Disintegration, is easily Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Good luck!
