I wouldn't say it's ahead of it's time, I'd just say that things haven't changed.

This still takes my breath away, I mean the sheer genius of its construction and its hammering climax. It's the character in Man in the Mirror and Heal the World having his eyes opened to the brutal fact that the world is not listening, it is in fact disintegrating, eviscerating itself. His hand wringing to gentle piano gives way to startling drums, to wordless begging choruses, until he admits defeat, that he is as lost and adrift as anyone else. And then he explodes. He rages, quite literally, against the machine that bore this Armageddon. He demands answers, to the fullest extent of his lungs and vocal chords, as to why the suffering continues. He challenges the listless to fight on, fight back. Do we give a damn? Do we really? How far are you truly willing to go to make that change? (Looking at you, "United" States. Looking you dead in the eye.)
