Emilie Nicolas released her debut single “Pstereo” in 2013, and made an immediate impact on the
Norwegian music scene. Her debut album Like I’m a warrior (2014) was released shortly thereafter, and
went straight to number one on the Norwegian album chart. She went on receiving two Spellemann awards
(Norwegian Grammy) as well, in the categories Best new artist and Best pop act.
A part from “Pstereo”, all the songs on Like I’m a warrior are written and co-produced by Emilie herself, and
they bear witness of a wide range of influences. Emilie is both pop, R&B and electronica – wrapped in the sensibility of jazz.
Following the release of her very first album, Emilie went on touring Norway and Europe. With a unique
textual universe, a great sense of melody and an intriguing stage presence – she captivated audiences everywhere, and was considered one of Norway’s most exciting and promising pop acts.
Amid all these positive events, Emilie suddenly went quiet. Illness forced her to take a break from music and
limelight – until 2017. In January, she released the single “Sky”, and one of Norway’s most prominent radio
channels gave it top score and stated:
“The song is a crisp and powerful pop-electronic gem, and it reminds us why Nicolas impressed us so
incredibly much when we first got to know her.”
Emilie is finally back, with her new album, Tranquille Emile. The making of the
album started about a year ago, and has been an incredibly open and inclusive process. In addition to
Emilie and producer Eivind Helgerød, many friends and artist colleagues have contributed and in various
ways made their mark on the album. The artwork is made by five years old Jon Stoesen Chocron.
