"Mare or stallion...There's far more inside.." Yes. The Greek gift was a huge Trojan Horse we brought to the Troy as a present... with hidden warriors inside the wooden horse. As Virgil (a Roman poet) wrote in his Aeneid II, "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts../Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes". Virgil's 'Aeneid" was based on Aeneas, a Trojan hero who travelled to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Romans. There is much more background in the story of Troy. Not only in Homer's Iliad but in many other greco-roman works. But Homer is the main source.

I don't like the remake as much as the original. The production is much clearer, but that's it. Hansi holds back a bit and doesn't deliver all those god-like vocals quite as well as he did in 2002 - even if I think he has even gone upwards as a singer since then in general (if that's even humanly possible anymore). The "A Night at the Opera" version remains the best song in the world. :)

yesterday i was in a pretty f.cked up situation; while i was trying to cross some bridge and failing over and over again, a witch(or a bitch, you name it) releasing her giant tortoise-dogs on me. all my friends were dead and i was extremely sad. the ending of this song (approximately 12:55 and later) playing in background of dream and i woke up. the radio was on. "and then there was silence" was playing. i was crying dammit. And then there was silence...

Listening to this song is actually like reading a synopsis of the greek invasion in Troy. Mythology and factual history are hard to discern sometimes, and Homer definitely has some historical influences in his epic tales. I have a kept an amazing 2000-word analysis on this song from the old BG forum at least 10 years ago, when I used to listen more metal in high school. Hansi did a great work on this one.

This song brings tears to my eyes. Probably the music which makes me the happier. Epic taken to the next level
