The diagram is a perfect idea in a perfect world. I liked the part about sitting next to old people, because of how quiet they are. Flashback: I've only been to see a movie a grand total of two times with a grandparent: 1986, my brother and I saw Ferris Buhler's Day Off at the Woodville Mall, with Grandpa; 2002, I saw About Schmidt with my Grandma, and while I loved the movie, the memory of watching the Kathy Bates nude scene with Granny Delores right next to me, occasionally, just occasionally, haunts me....Speaking of haunting, this is Goblin, Italian prog-rockers who did a lot of horror movie soundtracks in the 1970s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC3IRIlWnxA

I have a feeling you'll get me by a couple when it comes to the month of RockTober. I have Godspeed You! Black Emperor and DJr; So Black Flag only has 11% ABV??? WUSSES. Actually, I've had a couple stouts that exceeded 11 and 12% before. Couple. Because usually by the second one, things are heavy and extremely dense, and I'm hugging everyone. I've yet to meet an IPA that I truly liked. Sorry. I always try them, but I just can't love them. The aftertaste just...lingers. I assure you, Green Flash will be tried and given a fair chance.

How'd you get your hands on Fossils?!! It's a pretty hard compilation of EP songs and B-sides. I've never heard it. And right now, the fact that you have it, is distracting me from the early 3-0 lead the Tigers have right now on the Rangers. Teeming with jealously/rage. Green Mind is another one I'm not too familiar with. I've only gotten into them within the last few years. Where You Been from 1993 is a fucking face smasher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayj0dZ5EK1M ; I also have two of their more recent records, Farm and Beyond, both mature, blazing, goddamnterrific efforts. This is also a killer. This video...sigh..takes me back to sixth grade. Because I was in 6th grade I think when this came out. Maybe 7th. Wait a minute, did I even go to middle school??

How you're going to maintain for the next several weeks/months, is anyone's guess. Frankly, I'm a little scared...for you and those closest to you. ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE IT THAT LONG?...Bill Hicks brings those kind of laughs out of people. Your love and devotion for Reagan is okay. You mean Ronnie Reagan, right?..as for the issue of Rush being a Scat Muncher and your love of Scat, the sub-genre, and having the nickname of Scat (Are you being serious? If you are, cool nickname. I don't even have a fucking nickname. I want a nickname!), purely and 100%-ly mutually exclusive. You have nothing to worry about....I fear these guys will never be around in my parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk-Ou05Kz1I ... ; I'm going through a self-imposed cleansing, if you will, and am fucking bored. Hope you have a good weekend. 3 and a half more months...you'll make it!

Some of my favorite Hicks, stuff I'm sure you already know: nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaHnFd3X-wI; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVFJd94XRck&feature=related ; ...this last one, it's uh, well, I'm sure you've heard it, but if you haven't....well...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIT-SYVPV8s&feature=related

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, I like a lot of it, but not a huge fan, of "jam" music. And I'm not sure if these guys are, or were, considered to be a jam band. There are jam band tendencies, though. Hope you like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPzmS8iLwy4 ; ......BILL HICKS. You have no idea how much I worship the guy. Me and another friend who's also a huge Hicks fan, often fantasize about what'd he say if he lived through the GW Bush era. The thing is, the stuff he did back in 91, it's still fucking funny and it's sooo....prescient.

I checked out the video of "Marrow" on Letterman. First: While I no longer really give a shit about what Letterman says or does anymore, I have to give him props for the types of musicians he puts on, especially for the 11:30 slot. You, we, I, don't see his competitor Turd Ferguson Leno getting at all creative when it comes to booking musical guests. As for Marrow...Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. Why so much brass?? It was overWHELMING! On the other hand, that fuzzy ass guitar solo by Annie was pretty fucking bad ass. She's talented. I'm not.

So I was writing to you, in this very section, last evening, and my laptop overheats and shuts down. I had many interesting and insightful things to say, I covered a lot of ground: Annie Clark, the brilliance of Joseph Heller's "Catch 22", the Arab Spring, the benefits of bi-fold wallets to tri-fold wallets, the downfalls of drinking Ice beer as opposed to just regular beer...and it's all gone. I will say that I like Annie's voice, and the overall aggression of Grot I dug...but I think St. Vincent will have to grow on me.

I put quotes around "post rock" because I think it's a ridiculous and pretentious label, but it's succinct, and most people who give a shit about music know generally what you're talking about if you use it. Anyways. Mogwai will be missed, for sure, but I did see them in May of 2011, and it was great. Even though I've only seen them once, I've been to a fair share of shows of bands that sound like Mogwai and the crowd is always the same: mainly guys in their late 20s to mid 30s, who look like they got a free night out from their girlfriends and aren't quite sure whether to let loose or not...I know not of any bands that would interest me coming around these parts in the near future. Fuck that, eh? I need to start looking around, I guess...Oh, please try to fall asleep to this, tonight, or every night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9kPIp4MtX0

That's funny about your misplaced shout. Been there. Done that and it. As for Venus, that is one sweet ass mothereffing pic. With your permission, I'd like to save it and use it as possible wallpaper on my 897 year old laptop. Owen Pallett is interesting. While, if you remember, i'm not a fan of the sax in rock music, I fucking love strings in rock. This Owen fella reminds me of Andrew Bird, except more Canadian-ier, which is fitting, considering Andrew Bird is from Chicago...Nice recommendation. And I have to say YES to the question of whether Canada ever has sunshine. You're thinking of Michigan. I just got my tickets for these guys, a couple days ago. It's in October. Is that weird I already got a ticket? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynoMnQDy8Tk&feature=related ; I also finally got the new Explosions in the Sky. It broke my fucking heart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4IIHvTu8_Q ; remind me again your thoughts on the whole "post rock" genre, can't remember if we discussed..

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!...now that I got that out of the way...how are you? Glad to see you're digging Spacemen 3; additionally, it's good to know your retinas, corneas, et al, are still attached to your eyes, and your vision is back to acting swimmingly. Random recommendation, but these dudes are cool...by the way...I've taken that trip before!! (You'll understand whence you see the viddy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuU8LWGX2Pc&feature=related ; in keeping with the good time feelings on this hot summer Sunday afternoon, this one by Uncle Tupelo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7CGkuLEs5U

I'm guessing the Finger is from circa 1975-1981. I prodded my dad for a good two to three minutes on ANY details he could provide me about the Finger. Was it a bowling league door prize? Christmas gift from a coworker? He had nothing, other than kinda-maybe remembering to have something kind of like that. This is cool. This is positive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxAaf16xXRk

Something positive, let's see, let's see....my mom was rummaging around this thing called a china cabinet, like the uh, dishes, and she called me up and told me show found this solid wood thing. It's a hand giving the middle finger. It's solid. I called my dad and he remembers it, but he as no idea on the why of it, the where he got it of it, and the when and how he got it, other than that, it's crystal clear. He said I could have it, that it was my birthright, haha...ha? It's my new avatar.

Woah, woah, woah. Slow down. Are you okay? You have to admit there's some traigicomedy in the whole mom giving you sound advice AFTER the fact. Really, I hope you're okay. Fucked up eyes are nothing to fuck with, for fucks sake. I had a bruised cornea once in college. I called my mom at 6 in the morning to come and take me to the hospital. Bruised cornea. Must be from all the bare-knuckle boxing I was doing. Bruised cornea????...The video for "The O-Men" should be shown to every film class in the world. I spent close to two hours yesterday, hitting the peace pipe (after work, of course. Fuck it...I do it right before work, too), listening to the Surfers station on You Tube. You love Zappa, and I know you do...you see the resemblance/tribute, right?

And apparently (is that a really, really bad way, grammatically, to start a sentence? It felt bad), listening to Butthole Surfers while either on acid or shrooms, is a bad idea, according to some, on this right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYGoougMHSQ&feature=autoplay&list=AL94UKMTqg-9Bh_erQnihZ1qYOnskhFupS&playnext=1

Regarding the Primus viddy: I didn't mind that version, but I really, really love the original. I'm sorry for the dumbass question: but who was the guy singing? He had some pipes, jeeze...I was Tubeing it, and I was watching this old favorite a video I haven't seen in years, and the word "Texas" was said in the lyrics, so I decided immediately you should see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO8vBVUaKvk&feature=related ...they're a band I've always wanted to eventually get into. They've been around forever, those Surfers.

Just so we're clear: You don't especially care for Lars and his band of Ulrichs. Got it. I hope you got into the show...of course I hope you only used guile, wit and the fiery determination of a true fan, to get in. I'm heading to the South this weekend. Okay, it's Cincinnati, which is only 3 hours to the south; however, just across the river is Kentucky, another planet onto its own, so that should count for something. Watching Reds v Tigers, in what I hope will be a good weekend. I count on the Tigers crushing my soul in both games, but I'm trying to be positive. What's keeping me positive is that it's a weekend out of town and there will be substantial summertime drinking. Sold.

There is only hope for you if you actually want to listen to those songs! If you don't...well, it really is okay...but utterly hopeless. I think an album that nicely compliments Ladies and Gentlemen, is Lazer(or Laser?) Guided Melodies, their first record. This is a nice little starter, just under 3 minutes.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEWHVaoqalA ...as for your affront to Pink Floyd....REALLY???? I love their older stuff too, (Meddle...fucks me in the brain whenever I listen to it. Yes, it's a real brainfucker)...but I thought for sure you'd dig it not only because it was Dark Side (aside: Even though Dark Side is of course the post popular PF, I really do think it's their greatest work), but the live-ness of it, the scope of it. Even though it pains me they're not your favorites, again, just another demonstration on the power/beauty of music: To each their own. Oh, there's this, also, from Lazer Guided Melodies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY8SyTsgSko&feature=related .

Okay....THIS is the song, I've decided that will force you to give me a reaction to the brilliance of Mark Kozelek. This is from an album dedicated to boxers and boxing, in general http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW3_8Q45xM8&feature=bf_next&list=AL94UKMTqg-9AczHeyoQIvjYWzvo37P3Sm

2 things: You never told me what you think is your favorite Zeppelin album. I'm guessing III...The other...you got a new job? Congratulations...? Right? Speaking of the PF, I just have to share this, because the well is empty from this guy...hope you had a fun weekend. Shout at you somewhere down that funky old line: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGwPSPIhohk&feature=related
