Yeah, Galaxie 500 are great. Noticed you as a Sticklips listener (1 from 121!) and like your collection too. I think you may "dig" [artist]Rob Crow[/artist]. Cheers

(Whoops, there goes 1000) Life is starting to get comfortable down here, so I'm starting to see another move in my future. I'm planning to spend 4-6 months traveling around South America on my way to visiting friends and family back home, but my eyes are on Europe after that. Maybe I'll be able to head there in two years for grad school, but I still have too many weird and divergent curiosities to decide what I want to be when I grow up and become a responsible person. With luck, I'll get to dust off German and get back to studying a language that I really like. Speaking of responsible people, I heard that Katie got into NYU and may be joining you next year. Pass on my congratulations (you don't have to). How was Easter with the family? I saw my sister briefly in February, but it's starting to feel strange missing all of these holidays in succession. Hmm... Two full shoutboxes is probably my cue to quit shouting, I suppose.

To feed and shelter myself I'm living the cliché of the foreign English teacher. This means perpetuating corporate imperialism, as the lack of demand for English lit instructions (believe me, I've looked) means I spend most of my time teaching business English, somewhat at the cost of my self-image and sanity. I tell myself it's better than working for Dow or Monsanto in one of the positions my degree suggests I should take. My primary personal project is to put together a decent understanding of Spanish, but this is complicated by the fact that I have to function in both languages on a daily basis. The time that I don't spend working or hanging out with friends here is divided among decidedly nerdier pursuits. I do a lot of lit reading (English and Spanish), and I'm also studying a fair amount of computer programming and math.. Things I've always been curious about but haven't had time or focus to play with.

Hey! Good to hear from you. I'm doing well-- busy. Time away from school means I get to pursue personal projects, and for that I feel a lot sharper and more productive. I should have taken some time away before going to college. I'm enjoying Cortázar at the moment, too, actually. Have started with some of his shorter work (reading Final del Juego now), but hoping to work up to Rayuela eventually. How are you? School? Life? Developed passions? Haha... I think I'm asking beyond the scope of the shoutbox as a medium. Apologies for my lack of internet tact, but my Facebook account decided itself at odds with its existence a while ago.

http://www.thehoodinternet.com/2007/04/r-kelly-vs-broken-social-scene.html I laughed. Then I enjoyed it immensely. How's college? Freezing my ass off in Cleveland, and jealous of those dwelling in New York (I know it's cold there, too). >_>

Also, I saw your myspace, and I think it's so cool that you play guitar. I'm trying to learn, but so far I appear to be more talented with the violin lol.

Yes, Kevin signed my iPod and my tour poster, and B.P. signed my ticket. All are highly treasured possessions lol. It's so weird (in a completely amazing way), but ever since the concert I've fallen asleep signing Of Montreal, I just can't get them out of my head. I love them so. Decemberists with an orchestra sounds unbelievable. I really hope that I can make it to that concert.

Sorry this is so long lol...but I wanted to tell you how envious I am that you went to see The Decemberists. The whale sounds genius, I wish that I could have been there. I had a violin competiton tonight that I had to practice for, so my indie ration was severely diminished. Sad, no?
