Quite rare I feel compelled to post on someone's shout box after two decades on this site, but your music taste is really very good. Bravo! Loving this new Soft Pink Truth album. Drew never misses.

is it not fun that we've both drifted around this website for as long as we have, and only now my path crossed with yours

Your compatibility with ThrillHow is Low. You both listen to George Clanton, Haruhisa Tanaka and KENJI KIHARA – interesting overlap

Great artists to have in common :) we have more but last.fm tastometer thingy seems to not really acknowledge any shared artists unless you both listened to then within last few months, so I don’t really take low compats seriously necessarily! I see you are in to cool vapor stuff and more 💻

No, it's not annoying at all! It's just an observation. Nice library by the way.

Found you thru your comments on the Geotic page. It says our other artists in common are Aphex Twin and Chat Pile which are my big favs so I’m following to see what else you recommend

Hell yeah dat compat 💜 To my mind, anyone who likes Chat Pile should surely also be on board with Godflesh at least. I need to find more like these myself. As for Aphex, he's influenced everyone yet so singular.. I always think Reload covered similar territory to his early stuff and remain pretty overlooked. Would recommend checking out 'A Collection of Short Stories' by them. The Theory of Evolution comp is definitely worth a look too. + Global Communication, different lane but essential.

heyyy thank you and you too!! 🙌 lovinggg dj+1's output and savouring any mention of him online atm, so love this! Seriously good, I'm keeping an eye on his bandcamp and (his?) label También or ("+ambién"?) - seems like there is something good happening in Colombia lately judging by this and producer Rosarito 1/2's EP this year (also recommend checking out if you haven't already!) ✌

Remember when last.fm had user-generated social group pages, and it actually notified you if someone friended (i.e. followed) you? And then the big update fucked that all off and 3/4 of the userbase disappeared overnight? And then Songkick arrived and made the Events pages redundant as well. I honestly don't know how this platform is still afloat. I still support it but it's a big wasted potential ongoing these days.

Just found your page shoutbox surfing. I'm a little sad I missed the golden age of this site. Good news is it appears to be growing in the last few years. I have found a lot of people who have made accounts in the last 3 years. I know 5 other people IRL who have made accounts since 2022. I hope the site stays up forever.

ahah, can't really think of any albums I really like that are generally considered 'bad'? Maybe 'Human Story 3' by James Ferraro, saw plenty of people dunk on it and I think it's amazing. I really like Faith No More's first album and I've seen many of people write that off as well. Oh, and some of the later stuff from Sun Kil Moon.

I will give those a listen and I'll make sure to let you know which one I dislike the most as being the best worst album.

Amazing charts, brother. Your library is like what I imagine mine to look like if I started out with indie instead of metal as a teenager haha - many interesting points of convergence. Could you recommend me some ambient that you enjoyed recently? Looking for some new stuff in this domain and you seem to know a lot more!

Wowow, very kind!! Love what's on your charts too - I was gonna suggest Loris S. Sarid maybe but you're already on it! Some of my personal top fav ambient-geared labels of recent years are Constellation Tatsu, Salmon Universe, Last Resort, Moon Glyph, Leaving Records and Métron Records (amongst others!) They're amazing, you can honestly look on their Bandcamp pages or whatever, pick anything you think looks cool and chances are it'll be a gem. To give a few specifics, some personal faves are G.S. Schray's "First Appearance" (not strictly ambient, kind of ambient jazz, but smooth and beautiful), Constant Shapes "Rainbow Rituals" (uplifting synthy droney ambient), Emily A. Sprague's "Hill, Flower, Fog" (more sparse minimal synth and a bit more melancholy but beautiful), and Green-House's 'Six Songs for Invisible Gardens'. As you can tell, I like this question 😂 I want to write a blog about this post 2010s ambient because there's too much I love madly 💙

I just ordered a tape from Loris this morning. :D I only moved to Glasgow recently and am happy to support artists based here. Thank you so much for the reply! I didn't expect such a quick and thorough response—much appreciated.🖤 It will probably take me a moment to fully explore this list of suggestions, but I'm very excited to dive in and will let you know what I enjoyed in particular! And looking forward to that blog post as well. :)

Ahh love it!! Good shout - you've got me looking now! It's always nice if you can support local artists :) I've never been to Glasgow, hope you enjoy life there. I'd like to visit someday (I'm in London). I've listened to a few things before from this label 12th Isle that put this latest Loris tape out. Gonna have to dig further into it - I love their aesthetic! 🙏 I also forgot to mention Not Not Fun, another amazing label. So much wonderful music 😊

Glasgow is no London of course, but it has some really nice music scenes. I've lived in Scotland for 6 yrs now and always went here for gigs, so really happy to have finally moved to where everything happens. If you ever come up, I'll take you to one of the many local jazz gigs that I attend regularly 🎷 (there are a bunch of local projects sharing members—many featured, e.g., here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUMKlZTWBAo). I'll be in London for this gig actually: https://www.wegottickets.com/event/555798 Chihei is a long time favourite of mine and I've never seen him live, and excited for Loscil too. :) So when UCL invited me to give a talk, I asked them whether it can be that Friday before the gig, so my boss is letting me go down that weekend haha 😁
