The Pointer Sisters c/o Sesame Street would like to point out how many years old your last fm page became today: https://youtu.be/VOaZbaPzdsk

I’m always relieved to find you’re still there when I check your page nowadays. Maybe that’s what time does.

oh, not even if you select and copy paste it in to the address bar? Still if you go to https://web.archive.org/ then pop in your last fm url you should be able to see previous snapshots of your page.

this is the earliest snapshot of your page from the 'wayback machine' https://web.archive.org/web/20080404143800/http://www.last.fm/user/ModularMiss/

So when you go to other people's pages, at the top, to the right of the count of scrobbles and artists you don't see a round thing with your avatar in? It's still a status gauge like before except instead of a straight bar like a thermometer they've bent it in to a circle (circles seem to be their thing now, i think they're trying to impress Spotify). Also, and this might be new there's a hover over hint giving you the exact percentage. Currently you're 96% compatible with me but I wouldn't worry; nobody's perfect.

A few other things have been revived yesterday. The similar artists list now extends to 250 as opposed to 5 or something stupid like that. Also now when you click on a link to an artist under a user's taste-o-meter for the artists you have in common it takes you to the user's library page for the artist. Previously it just took you to the artist page. It was interesting to see for example which Stereolab albums you've listened to most compared to me.

It's obvious what last fm are doing. They're losing money so they've cut the site to nothing (features need programmer bodies to maintain them data takes up space on servers etc, it all costs) then only bring back as little as possible gauging on what they should bring back on user responses. In that way they have the smallest cheapest to maintain site they can get away with. This has always been their approach to losing money; cut the site down and hopefully the money saved will cover that lost by disgruntled users leaving. For example when they cut the streaming service.

Features are slowly being revived but only as a result users screaming at them on the forums and then only as little as they can get away with. For example they've recently revived access to historical shouts, previously you could only see the most recent ten. But now it turns out it's only the most recent 50 pages of shouts that we have access to. I used to like going to the earliest shouts for artists who have become popular during the time there has been last fm so as to check out what the users of those shouts are listening to now and if they have consistently picked up on stuff before anyone else.

The taste-o-meter is back! Light at the end of the tunnel! hopefully not from an oncoming train.

the damn thing's not scrobbling right now! so I'll have tell you myself I'm listening to Ringo Deathstarr. And another thing wrong with the new last fm is that it's randomly deleting shouts, that image you put up of Mr Corbyn carrying a copy of The Fall's Hex Enduction Hour was pretty darn funny but now it's gone!

I'm broadly in favour of his politics but the more important question is: what are his music tastes? Also does he even have a last fm page?

i'd form a self-help group but groups are one of the new site's many missing features.

after hearing Ethan's first solo track and then for ages the only thing i saw from Alice were lame instagram pics of herself on facebook i was team Ethan. But today this happened: https://soundcloud.com/aliceglasss/stillbirth and now i'm like Ethan who? Is Health playing in there i wonder and it also sounds a bit like a T.A.T.U. song! So basically i'm playing one against the other and right now Ethan's got some catching up to do.

this Edith wan's a bit of a mystery though. Maybe it's Ethan after using some computer wizardry to make his voice sound like a lady's. I think that's what the PC Music fella does who's behind Sophie and QT and so on (amazing video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MQUleX1PeA

i notice from our flag counters that we have a lot of Serbians visiting both of our pages, far more than you'd expect from a country of that size. Why are the Serbians so interested in us?

I don't rate the new Beach House album too much, think it's being way overrated by some.

My Bloody Valentine could have a new album out soon, maybe! What would you think of that? Can't top Loveless surely? Thanks for that suggestion of that album. Do Beach House ever change tempo, it's all slow stuff? I think I discovered them cos of you, it was before the Devotion album, you posted it on NME boards.

Yes, i think it's a very good album, it gets some unnecessary criticism from people, dunno why. At least they aren't trying to make Silent Alarm over again and again. What music are you enjoying at the moment?

I don't think Odd Soul is classic Mutemath. It's a good bit different. My favourite record from them is the first one Mutemath. Their live album is great too, and is all stuff from the first LP. Yeah, looking forward to it, recording looks nearly over judging by twitter. Hopefully it'll be very good, here's hoping, you a fan?

Thanks for that, haven't gotten round to listening to them yet but hopefully will soon. Was listening to that Mercury Rev album Yrself is Steam recently, similar enough vibe, well a lot more psychedelic, but was really disappointed with it.

I was / am a big Sleater Kinney fan but only heard a bit of Wild Flag. Seemed ok but kinda lacked what i enjoyed about Sleater Kinney at their finest. The vocal and gutar interplay between Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker and killer tunes. Kinda felt the same about what i've heard from The Corin Tucker Band. But i kinda feel its my duty to hear more from em. Cos they could be a'grower' and i'm missing out.. ... I feel Screaming Females sound a bit fresher.

Hello! Nice to know someone still thinks about me! Yeah am not so bad thanks i guess. And news that GBV are putting out a new album is making me do cartwheels around Bedford HQ. Classic line up too! Though i am old enough / was hip enough to experience that line up the 1st time round. Live too, when they were over here briefly in 96. I do still have a little nosy round these parts yr know to see what the likes you and tweeglitch are playing. Though it's usually stuff ave never heard of. .... Btw this is my fave band of the past couple of months. Saw em live and thought they were awesome. Best band ave see for quite a while... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE0BWA5LZYc Dunno if they are your thing. Hope all is well your ends.

It is myspacey like that but at any point during a song's play you can attach a comment - which could be fun if you wanted to go "ooh that's a good bit" say. But you can follow artists which means you're messaged when they upload new stuff or even when they add songs to their favourites. Which is a new interesting way of finding music - you like a certain artist so listen to some of the songs they've liked and consequently discover more artists you like. But also because so much of the music can only be streamed (and can’t be scrobbled) many of those artists barely exist as far as last.fm is concerned so it’s almost another world.

Hello and how is your life today? I've been exploring soundcloud and have enjoyed these: http://soundcloud.com/fireforeffect, http://soundcloud.com/le1f, http://soundcloud.com/eternityzone I'm not sure what seapunk is yet and why it has such a ridiculous name but those may be examples.

Yes that one surprised me as well - there didn't seem to be any kind of pre-release blog hyped tracks from the forthcoming already leaked album and so on etc. Not listened to it yet though. There's a long and growing queue of albums since i've been pruning my mp3 player list this past couple of weeks. So how are you? I crashed my bike (ran over a cat or someone I couldn't tell with my headphones on). This was very financially upsetting as it was an expensive bike. No wait I just remembered, there was that polish girl song.
