Hey, I didn't forget about your shout. I'm planning on writing a note on facebook in the next week or so detailing my favorite albums from this year. I haven't listened to many new bands either, mostly just picking up the latest albums from bands I already know I like. By the way, how come you don't like the new Turisas? I think its the best album they've done so far.

how is Novembers Doom dickish?

As far as I'm concerned, before the I.N.R.I album they had only released one bad song in their life! (through a chlid's eyes) The early stuff is a brilliant Americanized take on the My Dying Bride sound, then the evolved into the doomy MDM band after that.To Welcome the Fade is probably my favorite doom album of all time. So yeah, that's how much i think of them, :) ...Yeah, they did 3 shows recently with Woods of Ypres recently, but predictably all in the northeast. I remember a few years ago they were supposed to be on the Rotting Christ tour, but they dropped off. That tour wasn't going to go to Atlanta, but it was in Charlotte. I would have went for sure.I don't know why they won't do big tours, probably family or job related reasons

Nah, no link. I'll wait until it comes out and I'll buy it. I'm not surprised its good. I was disappointed in the last one, but it was the first weak album of their career, and I've been listening to them a long time. I think they realized that it wasn't up to par. Plus, I've heard the song they do with Anneke, and I love it. But I can wait. Too many other great things to hear!

You seem really surprised that I know them! Yeah, the guitarist of that band is the same guy in classic Norwegian crazies Urgehal. And I just enjoy progressive black metal in general. I downloaded Bellowing Sea a while ago. Its pretty damn good.

Well, to be honest, I haven't really been paying attention to newer bands either. I think I got to the point where there just too many bands out there, and I'd rather just get new releases from old favorites than listen to something new. I'll let you know of some bands that I"ve been listening to for a while that you may like. I assume you've listened to Arkona? If not, you have to.Ireland's Cruachan is an old favorite. Fejd plays folk metal on acoustic guitars, sounds crazy but its great. Then there is Mael Mordha, who is doomy folk metal. If you know those bands already, let me know, and I'll let you know about some more obscure ones.

Yeah, I know all about the WOY thing. I didn't have internet access when it was announced they were splitting, but Daniel sent me a text, knowing I would want to know. Its extremely disappointing. I don't know the reasons why David Gold is doing this, but I don't think it has to do the bad luck on the tour. Atlanta was obviously the low point of the tour. They played at a place no one had ever heard of that didn't sell beer, and it was badly promoted locally. They did much better in the northeast and in Texas. It was a learning experience. They were supposed to take what they learned this year and do better next year. But apparently after recording the album, Gold is leaving for somewhere. He said that he's leaving Canada. So no one knows what's going on.

Hey, I appreciate you thinking of me if you were to get a bunch of friends together! There's really no way I can go on my own. If I were to do a big out of state trip it would have been to Virginia to see Finntroll/Moonsorrow, or maybe Iron Maiden, but there's just no money for that kinda stuff at the moment. It should be a great trip with just you and your father. I look forward to some pictures!... I will be attending college in August! I got accepted to Gainesville State College here in athens. Better late than never. ...I deleted facebook because it got boring and I had some security issues. I'm thinking of rejoining, and only having a a few "friends" on there, without becoming a fan of everything so I'm not faced with a mountain of info to sift through every time I log in.
