Alright it's a stupid name, but I wish there was a good name to call bands generally associated with "twinkle daddies". Whenever I try to explain to people what my favorite music I have to say either "twinkle daddies" and feel like an idiot or say it's midwest emo, which is a vague, meaningless term (to most people, they just assume I'm listening to crap emo).

I really enjoy all of these bands, but I just always considered them a combination of early emo, singing like you mean it regardless of how good your voice is, and math rock. Like SpencerBingol said, it's also very jazz influenced. I feel like there aren't enough bands in the genre to be considered a movement. It's more about Kinsella's influence on the emo scene of the mid 90s. When I think of twinklecore, I think of the cast of Peter Pan playing Haste the Day covers. Regardless, the definition makes sense. It puts a little twinkle in my eye.

Twinklecore is not the best name for the best genre around. I was thinking of a more jazz influenced name like Jazz-Pop or Indie-Jazz or Jazz-rock or something like that, its a lot more representative of the genre.

Yeah, I'm with everyone hating on the name.. Its understandable to want to label this great subgenre (American Football and the like) but twinklecore sounds like a better label for a band like Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer.. That's twinkly..
