Formed by 叫號 (Kyuho Lee) in 2010 and using 4 more live members, Madmans Esprit (ME) is a Post-Black Metal + Visual Kei esthetic project based in Seoul and Berlin. They use the term "Depressive Suicidal Blackened Pop" to call their music but the true is that Madmans Esprit mixes lot of styles: Avant-Garde, Alternative, Post-Black, Gothic, Grindcore, Punk, etc; in order to create unique music singing mixing different languages like English, Korean, German and Japanese.
The band released its first EP ,"I Just Want to Sex with you", in 2010, and their first demo, "Madmans Esprit", in 2012. In 2014, the band released its first full-length album ‚"NACHT", through the Italian Black Metal label "A Sad Sadness Song" (Sub-label of ATMF); and after that, released the new full-length "무의식의 의식화‘ "(Conscientization Of Unconsciousness) in October 2018 through Gan-Shin Records, the European home of Visual Kei legends like DIR EN GREY, lynch. and MUCC. In March 2019, ME released the EP "Glorifying Suicide", one of the most ambitious by the band, after the single "Suicidal". In October 2019, the band released "Seoul", with the songs "Seoul (this night is ours)" and "씨발" (Ssibal).
After singles like "자해와 해방" (Jahaewa Haebang) and "妄誕詩" (Mangtanshi) in 2020 and "백골의 정원" (Garden Of Skeletons) in 2021, the band released their third album "나는 나를 통해 우리를 보는 너를 통해 나를 본다" (I See Myself Through You Who See Us Through Me) in 2022; based on "We are the mirrors of each other", a concept that creates the entire perceived universe, and with some Doom Metal and Post-Metal influences and a dirty and brutal but also warm, fuzzy, and organic sound. Later, the band released "죽었으면/Bitter" (a double single with "I Hope I Die" and "Bitter") and "Mismatch", both with some songs from their previous CD.
In 2024, the band announced a new single with 3 songs with the publication of the video "墜落” (Fall), and later they released the EP "5 Old Scars" in August and "The World As Collective Reflections" with their live at Hybrydy, Warsaw. In February 2025, Madmans Esprit released the single "Please Stop Loving Me" (with an original song and a piano version).
