ChocQuibTown is Colombia's most popular hip-hop group. Their innovative sound fuses funk, hip-hop, Jamaican ragga, and electronic music in order to produce elaborate beats that incorporate traditional rhythms from Colombia's Pacific coast, as well as other Latin and Carribbean sounds such as salsa, songo and guajira. As winners of the 2010 Latin Grammy for best alternative song for their hit, “De Donde Vengo Yo,” this group is popularizing modern Colombian culture and music throughout the world.
An acclaimed writer, Rita Indiana soon set her sights on the music world. In 2008, Indiana’s musical project, Miti Miti released the album Altar Epandex –which was declared by The New York Daily News as, “one of the top 5 indie jewels .” In 2009, she formed Rita Indiana y Los Misterios which debuted in 2010 with El Juidero, a fusion of raw, street-oriented "Dominicana" that blends punk, rock, reggae, electronic, and Afrocaribbean rhythms.
Que Bajo?!, NYC’s acclaimed tropical dance party and its DJs are at the forefront of a global music scene that mixes the folkloric music of Latin America with modern electronica.
