I'll have to check the exact number but it is in the 800's. My goal is to buy at least 1000 of them. Secondhand stores have been incredible in helping me achieve this goal.

New garbage album is actually pretty good. It sounds a bit more like their first and 2.0. It has some really solid songs on it. It won't be in my daily playlist, but still a better recent effort than some of the other bands from the 90s. It's not quite as experimental with sound as beautiful/garbage or bleed like me. But those two albums were not my favorites. They had good songs, but some of them were just not to my liking.

The new Opeth album may take a few listens, but I'm not saying that it's bad or anything like that. I see potential in a few tracks and hopefully the album will grow on me. I'm not completely sold on the new Dream Theater album. I'm giving it a lot of spins, hoping it'll grow on me, but I don't know... Also, ADToE is totally their sad attempt at making Images and Words Pt. 2. That's sorta disappointing to me.

Trying to get into I Mother Earth. They sound pretty good, but they haven't really grabbed me yet...

You've got a lot to look forward to my friend. I was so stoked how diverse their set-list was. They played from each album (with the exception of Like the Exorcist, BWMBD) including a good amount off of In Bocca Al Lupo, which is my personal favorite. I think Red of Tooth and Claw saw the most plays, but each song they were spot on and it turned out to be one of the best shows I've seen!

Yes, I know, and to be honest, on first listen, I'm rather disappointed. I prefer his previous work. Then again, maybe the album will grow on me. I remember when I first heard L'arc's Smile album, and I absolutely hated it, but now I can't seem to find a bad track on the album. :)

No, I haven't yet. I have so much music to check out and listen to, and I guess I can be stuck in a certain mode when it comes to music. Then again, it's L'arc, so I may push those bands to the top of my list! :) Oh, and I do think that Ken is such an underrated guitarist. Unfortunately, Japanese guitarists seem to be.

Yes, I was thinking the same when I heard it again earlier. It's a good enough song, but in that song, yet again, the lyrics let it down. I know it's a tribute to Portnoy's father, but ilyrically, it's very sentimentally cliched, and I found myself cringing at DT lyrics once again.

I think the problem with DT is that they are rather unbalanced in their albums. I would love to hear Portnoy's steps all in one, but I guess it can be done now, as I have all of the tracks. I just have to play them all back to back. I do believe he does have plans to merge all of the sections into one epic piece though. I love all parts, to be honest, even though the final part does borrow too heavily on earlier sections. Maybe that's the intention though, and as a whole will make more sense when listened to in it's completion.

Hmmmm, it's a strange one really. On one level, I'm cringing at how bad the lyrics are, and how cringe-worthy Portnoy's backing vocals are, but at the same time, I do find the new album interesting, and there are points that blew me away. :)

I went to see them in '07, and it was great to see them perform the whole of Images & Words. :) They hardly played anything from Systematic Chaos, which surprised me.

Oh yes, and also The Answer Lies Within. Lyrics you would usually associate with some manufactured pop act. Hmmm, I'm sounding like a DT hater, and really I'm not. Just mentioning that lyrically, they can be rather poor.

I'm glad you pointed out the lyrics, as I totally agree. I really think the lyrics are very cringe-worthy and cliched a lot of the time, to be honest. The worst example of that is probably in the Octavarium album. Oh, and will Myung ever be heard on bass?? It's easy to forget that he's actually a part of the band sometimes. :)
