Happy 7th scrobbling anniversary today! ... How quick time flashed by listening to your >3456 bands ... May you have even more such musical birthdays, and many more interesting music moments in the years to come ... What are your ideas about lastfm now ( and if you still remember, what did you await when you joined the "scrobblers")? ... P.S. Let me present this song (e.g. available at deezer) to your "birthday": ... genre: minimal/experimental -> 1st track, from album ("violin meets piano (3rd album)"): ... "seventeen" (this track has 100 beats per minute) ... https://www.last.fm/music/Erkan+Y%C4%B1lmaz/_/seventeen ... Here in Germany we now have to wear face masks when driving bus, shopping etc... Is this same at your place ?

Hello from a cold Germany, it's superb to see you have more than five years of scrobble contributions :-) ... Can you vaguely detail, how did your "musical voyage" evolve over time? ... I am wishing you all the wonderful music in accomplishing your forthcoming 64k scrobbles personal record ... How I came by here? ... lastfm shows us both in this weekly "Scrobble Leaderboard" charts: last DOT fm/user/primeraestrella/listening-report/week ... For another great year of music for both of us!

That's just the reality of things, unfortunately. Wishing them the best in keeping their place on their feet but I feel the inevitable will happen. Yes, I collect vinyl actually. Interesting to know Infopesa is doing some releases, but it might be expensive to have it shipped to the States. I've been following Discos Horoscopo's vinyl releases since last year with Chacalon y la Nueva Crema and recently Los Shapis. Of course, it's focusing on the essential 80's chicha albums. I don't know if you are familiar with the revival of the label but here's an article about it: http://remezcla.com/features/music/discos-horoscopo-relaunch/ . I also picked up a few reissues of rare Peruvian cumbia albums along the way like Grupo 2000, Los Dandy's, and Los Destellos released by US/European labels. Thanks for sharing the links. The sound of chicha truly lives on in the homeland. :)

Well, I guess there isn't going to be any Chicha Libre anytime soon (Plus just found out the Barbes place in Brooklyn is struggling financially). But I found a couple of side projects by some of its members: C.A.M.P.O.S. - Miracles & Criminals; a project by Joshua Camp with experimental qualities mixing chicha, lo-fi electronics and psychedelics giving an old school feel. Released in 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW3gRs4iHWY Locobeach - Featuring some of Chicha Libre's members including Joshua Camp himself and their music fuses psychedelic cumbia with funk and disco. Two of their singles were released last year and their first LP is still on the lookout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM8fNwvC7-o Both projects are under the Peace & Rhythmn label and can be found on Spotify and Bandcamp. I figured you might enjoy these. Take care!

As far as Akina album recommendations, I really enjoy her early album 'Variation' (1982) which includes fire tracks such as "キャンセル!" "ヨコハマA・KU・MA" and of course "少女A" but if I were to pick my recommendation for now is 'Bitter and Sweet' (1985). It has gotten the most spins from me and I consider it to be her transitional album. "飾りじゃないのよ涙は" "月夜のヴィーナス" "BABYLON" ...it's so good. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy 'Cross My Palm.' I know her English isn't that great and it's a pain trying to make out the lyrics she's singing but I enjoyed the production value - but I can see why some people can be turned off by that album. It was supposed to be her U.S. crossover album but it was a total flop!

Hi again! Thanks for letting me know. I'll definitely check them out when I have a chance. I don't know if you are aware but there's also a series of compilations called 'The Best of Chicha: Cumbias (Spicy Tropical Sounds from Perú)' that I have been listening to recently. There has been 6 volumes released so far and all are available on Amazon/Spotify. Truly an exciting listen. With that being said, we also need a new album from Chicha Libre!
