Sir, One can't help but think that having a signed copy of Mr. Cole's album would, at a minimum, brighten one's outlook on life and vastly improve the quality of one's music collection. Assuming receipt was recent, I feel it would be inappropriate not to commend you on this acquisition and to suggest there could scarcely be a better way to start off 2014. // On a personal note, I've happily left the burning wreckage of 2013 behind and hope for a vastly improved 2014.

I wish there was a way to correct spellings on songs rather then have to purge them. I agree with you about the band name, I can't imagine it's not a sore spot for Ringo given his advocacy for peace. Speaking of Ringo, my brother went to see his All Star band a few nights ago and loved it.

I applied to the Gordon Square non-EU scholarship for Birkbeck this year again. Wish me luck.

I digested a lot of Dylan when I was about 17 or 18, but mainly the 60s album and John Wesley Harding was for some reason really pivotal. Then I got into Desire and strangely, only in the last 10 years did I truly appreciate Blood on the Tracks, which I absolutely adore now. Blue Nile came to me when I heard Hats when it was released and it just blew me away. Like you said, the whole atmosphere of the albums were overpowering. Even now, when I put them on, I'm transported and no longer in this sweltering tropical heatwave.

haha, I was thinking it looked very much like a Hofner, like McCartney's. Lloyd Cole's essential, and Bob is the reason I named my son Dylan. :) I'm also a big fan of The Blue Nile that I see is in your Top 10 as I'm peering up. Them and The Bathers, criminally under appreciated.

I'm sure the whole line-up for the reunion was great. I just caught snatches of The Pines set online. Marvelous!

Wish I could have been there to see the gig at Brooklyn! A mate of mine made it there though. :)

Your words carry no small weight on the topic of EAWS - the pop side of the band does win out in the end. There were some projects that followed the band's demise which I've sadly managed to miss... I suspect I'm the poorer for this. // I managed to set up a Spotify account and link it to Last.FM for scrobbling purposes. Maybe I can look into David Bowie's back catalog once I get past Fleetwood Mac?

The Airfields - we are very much in agreement here. // I was listening to Even As We Speak not long ago, a band I always think of as holding middling appeal. When listening to them, however, I find much to enjoy. Perhaps it's time I formally commit my appreciation to heart? // I should make mention of the fact I've recently watched an Andy Warhol documentary entitled 'Superstar' - really quite compelling.

It's a true fact that Trembling Blue Stars have more then a few great songs in their repertoire; seems that with only 15 songs you're selling yourself short! // Ric Menck does a few covers but mostly his own material - I think this is a musician you could like. Funny his Last.FM band avatar paints him as being a welded to a certain sixties mindset - his music is influenced by the sixties but the lyrics not so much.

Yeah, I can be a boring old sod. Then again, so many SOS numbers make me feel good it has led to a kind of addiction

It has been a rainy day....always nice to come across one of my Top 50 TAs here on last.fm. It is annoying though that the pic they've got is the wrong one though....

That's the girl from GBG I mentioned in the shout to Red. Many moons ago, she burnt a disc with some of your tracks that I've since lost. Call me careless.

I have to confess, I didn't know that was available as a vinyl reissue. Apart from the woman's vinyl, i have a couple of CDs and that's it. I see you're a big listener of the Aislers Set:]

Well they ain't mine. On long-term loan from a girl who's failed to pick them up. Don't recall the titles, but one of them is a very good boxset. She buys virtually everything on and at auctions. I've got two of her Clientele discs, too. But as I say, they're not mine and not for sale:( On the other hand, I have a very rare, limited edition mini-CD by The Fall ....;)

I see the MFs are topping your fine TA list. They're another one of the bands who I to listen on vinyl. It's strange, I know, and I can't explain why I have this preference. David Sylvian is undoubtedly one of my top 3, but do I scrobble him? No. You know, I've never thought of the Field Mice (or NPL or TBS) as overrated. They've been big in my books ever since John peel introduced me to them and I must have spent a small fortune amassing my collection. By contrast, I think B&S - who are high in your TAs - are overrated. Like yourself, many of my friends like or love 'em. A result of which means that I've listened to all their stuff. But it all fails to impress or find any favour. Must be something wrong with me. A genetic disorder, possibly;]

Good question. Makes me wonder, too. But I've got everything there is to have, and I'm spinning my vinyl SOS as well. I've got something of a crush on Aberdeen and the Field Mice, right now.
