Coolies! Yeah it's kinda expensive just to get a Soundwave ticket, then gotta get there on the day and the food and drinks are way expensive. I'm mainly keen for A Perfect Circle, Anthrax, and Six Feet Under, there's a few other bands I wouldn't mind seeing too. Oh I want to get down to Brisbane at least twice before going for Soundwave, to see Fear Factory or Cannibal Corpse, and Dark Funeral or At The Gates. Maybe even Alexisonfire if I can do Sydney too! I'll see what happens =) My music taste has broadened to more heavier stuff these days, but I still enjoy softer tunes, the old classics, and a bit of blues. Well anything melodic is nice to listen to =D Apocalyptica will be sweet! Wish I could see them, maybe next time.

Oh just the usual, lots of work, sleep deprivation, practising new songs on guitar ... buying a Soundwave 2013 ticket when they're released on Wednesday =D Choosing between Cannibal Corpse, Impending Doom, and Steel Panther to travel and see this year (can only do one cuz I'm not rich) .... aaaaand that's life =) How bout' you? Interested in any bands on SW2013? (that 'have' been announced so far) I hope like Judas Priest or GWAR are announced next xD

Ah lol. Glad to hear it went well. Yeah, things happen at parties, especially when some people drink too much. At least you're lucky nobody had a fight there. Lol. Haha, people were playing Xbox instead? What did they play? Yeah, definitely. At uni you meet a lot of like-minded people, so it's easier to make friends than at school. It also kind of makes it easier by having all those clubs and stuff. That's why I loved uni too. Almost everything at uni is done to make life easier for students. Cool. Seems like a bit of a short Easter break. How come it wasn't longer?

That's really cool that you're organising your own house party. I hope you have fun. Lol yes, definitely have your own music. Get your friends converted to metalmania. Eventually with time, before they know it, they will be headbanging along too. :P Yeah, it would've been useful if they told me. But I suppose there isn't much that I did wrong. It's just in the end between two very good candidates they had to choose the slightly better one, one that suits them more, and the other person must've fitted them more than I did. So do you get to have an Easter break or do you still have lectures all the way through it?

Yep, I agree. Smaller house parties organised by friends or friends of friends are a lot more fun. But even then one has to go round and talk to unfamiliar people randomly, what can be kinda hard for an introverted person. Luka already has eyes for another girl? He only just ended relationship with his previous gf. That was fast. Lol. But I suppose the best way to get over someone is to simply move on and find someone else. It's the best remedy I noticed. No, they didn't say why they picked another person for the job. I suppose that's confidential info. Doesn't matter. Only one of us could go through. They were probably thinking the same thoughts as me prior to the decision. Lolz. You'd rather headbang to some quality metal than that crappy disco music. I agree, I prefer headbanging and air-guitaring to a nice metal song too than doing whatever it is they do in the nightclubs. Besides, I always found being in a nightclub boring too fast. Like after an hour or two I am done.

Yeah, unfortunately. I wish there were other ways to meet one's other half. Like say if you are quite nerdy and introverted and don't like to go to parties much. Then it's harder to meet people who can be a potential match. Haha. Why was Luka asking you about how to date a girl? Ah yes, the interview. I didn't really get the job, even though apparently I was shortlisted as one of the final two people. So it was a 50% chance. Oh well, will just keep on trying. Yeah, good idea. One doesn't need to get drunk to have a good time. When I used to go out to nightclubs and such with friends, they always needed to get a little bit drunk at least before going on the dance floor. I didn't need that. I could go right away without a drop of alcohol. :D So yeah, it's good you're deciding to stay more or less sober. Glad you're enjoying uni in general. Yep, everyone says uni is better than school, and there is a lot of truth to that.

Nice. I guess that's how most people get to meet their other halves, through their friends. I see Luka had managed to bother him already on Facebook. Lol. Thanks. I got an interview now for next week, which is a good sign, since I've already had a phone interview too and now they've asked me to come and meet the team and all that. Hmm, yeah. I can't remember much about the freshers'/orientation week now, but yeah, I won't be surprised if there is a lot of free stuff given about. Not sure if it's uni-related, but people of this age (around 18-25) tend to be quite booze-obsessed in general. Uni is a good excuse for them to not be monitored by their parents, so they can go wild pretty much. Sometimes I don't understand why people lose so much control.

Yeah tell me about it. Holidays always fly so fast. Just when you start having fun, it's time to work again. But I am sure uni is not going to be stressful, especially that the first year is pretty relaxed. It usually gets hectic in the final year. Oh wow, awesome on finding a boyfriend. Is he from uni or someone you knew from school? As for stuff on my end, nothing too much. Had some phone interviews from this one job in biotechnology sphere, so hoping I'll get it. They said I had a good chance, but who knows. I shall see I guess. Other than that, still promoting my books and all. I got part 1 of my series done in print now (the others will be soon too). In a meantime writing a sci-fi story. Been working on it for ages now and had to pause it many times because of the lack of inspiration, but now it's almost complete and hopefully I'll put it on Amazon in a month or so.

Yeah, true that, there are a lot of parties during the first week. I didn't really bother going to those, since it's not really my thing. Lol. Do law and med students have a lot of hours? At the end though it's still not as bad as school. You get plenty of time off, although they do say you have to do X number of hours of study OUTSIDE of lectures, which is usually a massive, unrealistically exaggerated, number.

Well, I don't see myself as a metalhead, I just listen to too much metal :D But you're right, too few women embrace this kind of music, and even fewer of them listen to something good

Is that what it's called over there? Orientation week? We call it the Freshers' week... I assume we're talking about the same thing here. Lol. But yeah I am sure you probably have Freshers' fair equivalent over there too where the reps of each club/society advertise themselves and the new people at uni basically go around and choose if they want to join any of these clubs. I remember during my undergrad 3 years I was in 2-3 clubs. You probably remember I used to mention dodgeball club a lot. Hehe. So I see you've chosen the subjects/modules already. This is one of the best things about studying at uni - variation in what you get to study, getting to choose and all that. It's amazing. Ah yeah, 18 hours a week is pretty good. I think it usually will be around 20 hours or so, until you get to the final year where you have a project or something, in which case it might be more. Lolz, but I don't know what the system is like over there.

Yeah, I am sure you will, even if you are very introverted, like me. I think best places to meet new people at uni are the people on the course and also people in various clubs, if you decide to join any. It's usually a good idea to join at least a couple of those, so that you can meet like-minded people. Yeah, true there about Amon Amarth and all the pagan/folk/viking bands. Oh right, I didn't know about those differences between black and death metal. Although to be honest many death metal bands tend to have the whole corpse look too. They do tend to sing about death after all, don't they? :D

Fantastic. I hope you'll enjoy your chosen course. And that's good that you already know someone who does your course. Though I am sure you will make many more friends at uni. There is a such huge variety of people in universities, you are bound to meet some which have similar interests to you. Ah, really nice song. I like it. Yeah, they are singing in Russian. Hehe, yeah I too can't tell the difference between folk, pagan, and viking metal. I guess the differences are not in the melody but more in the theme (sort of like how black metal differs from death metal). :)

Thanks. Happy New Year to you too, Kat. Yeah, the time flies. 2012 is upon us, apparently the year of apocalypse, according to many people. Lol. I guess we will wait and see. :D Ah I see now. Yep, makes sense. Over here pretty much all school exams get marked the same way, because it's kind of fair that way, since no two exam papers will be of the same difficulty and hence scores need to be adjusted depending on how well the entire year did it. Though I don't think universities use this system. Cool, so when is the university going to give you an offer? You might've mentioned it before, but I forgot.

Awesome! =) Are you going to Soundwave? I think this came up, on dA at some point, but the past few months have all been a blur to me online and in real-life ... well I've hardly been online =P Xmas is SO busy at work! And now it's all over, I can relax, until late February anyway ^_^

Well done. That sounds like a very good grade. I checked your thingy on deviant art. Sounds really awesome. Top 10% of the state is a great score. So someone in your year got full marks? That's crazy. I can never understand how some people can get full marks on every single test, since with every subject apart from maths it's hard to tell how accurate the answer is and it's up to the examiner's interpretation. Lol. So now what can you do with your grades? I am guessing since universities already gave you an offer, the release of your grades won't change anything. Right? OK, I see. I am not sure what is the key determining factor for me whether I would love a certain band or not. I seem to like mostly clean vocal bands, but some growling vocals appeal to me too. I think the instrumental melody might be more of a factor for me to be honest. I am not fond of empty riffs if you know what I mean. I like it when there is a consistent melody.

Oh right. How many exams did you take? Can't remember if you mentioned it before. Hehe, so the troublemaker got caught, but I guess he must've really enjoyed the scene he created that day. Lolz, yeah, what can I say? I love power metal... a lot. Haven't listened to Mercenary before, but I will give them a try. Listening to that song now. Pretty good. I don't mind melodic death personally, so long as it is... well... melodic enough.
