real great! I'm kinda obsessed by Schumann right now, so I've been working my way through that box (I'm only on disc 6!). I like his late works so much, stuff like op. 111 or 126, I find so creative and unusual. But then some of the earlier works are also very good, I especially like the symphonic-variations and the sonata, and well stuff like the kinderszenen is obviously tasty lyrical and pleasant.

also yeah no w/r/t koyaanisqatsi 1) it's mostly amazing because of The Grid 2) it is a pretty overly simplistic message; i sort of like it because movies not made by michael haneke usually dont have the explicit purpose of trying to convince their audience that it is inherently immoral to be alive. powaqqatsi is actually infinitely better from a message standpoint since it's pretty overtly communist/agrarian; the only problem is that it takes over an hour to establish that Poor Countries Are Very Pleasant To Look At before it gets to post-industrial capitalism doing its thing. w/r/t carter come on buddy minimalism is the only reason why any nonacademic is listening to classical music now. if elliot carter did soundtracks i would forgive him but as of now he smiles too much and writes unpleasant nebulous music
