people keep saying all kinds of stuff and comparing it to their other albums/songs. it does feel like a 'wrap up' of most of the stuff they've released previously. it also kinda transitions from bhar because of its opener. and considering that they were on a 'different planet' with bhar's cover art, now they are drifting in space. the album's theme makes a lot of sence, and it's really coherent when you realise that matt is going through a separation/breakup. at least half of this album is incredible ngl (really loving most of the singles, the opener and the closer. even the songs i don't like as much still have cool parts that i appreciate a lot) hope you'll find it interesting if you do check it out! really happy with this album myself

you aren't really missing out on much other than that track i mentioned they released recently. they've been trying to recreate the sound that made them great instead of just being themselves. people sucked up 'kill or be killed' because it was the first time in a long while they had something 'listenable' (though i still disliked that song) 'unravelling' on the other hand does sound like a breath of fresh air while executing the absolution-like sound much better. really hard to have high hopes for muse but even getting 'unravelling' is already insane enough on its own. simulation theory was the nail in the coffin for me too, whatever they put out just became unbearable so only stuck with origin of symmetry

well i guess 'unravelling' is where their experimention really did pay off, but it's just one song off the album and the rest may as well be their worst work to date. though still satisfied with what we got from them already, one great song this late into their career is a nice treat. they just try to reminisce about the 'great times' and that holds them back but also from time to time allows them to produce something listenable, so idk

Yeah no I kinda agree with you, I do also think it's the best I've heard of them in a long time also. I think for me it's moreso the fact that I'istening burnt out on their sound. I've been listening to them since about 2014-15 and my tastes have changed a lot since then too, so maybe I'm just not in the market for more Muse. But I agree they their fanbase is kinda crazy too. It's like half of it thinks they're the greatest band to ever live and every new thing they do is amazing and the other half is jaded old fans who just think it's not Like The Glory Days

Also idk how much of an insult it would be to say smth would be an older b side because some of those were better than some songs that ended up on albums lmao

yeah it doesn't make any sense tbh, just find it annoying when people make up those excuses instead of just saying that they don't like it. those 'insults' only take away enjoyment from other people who do enjoy what they put out and make them feel ashamed for liking it. that's how i feel right now as they are releasing new singles (if only they would stop) especially with something like rym, a single rating on a page decides whether the music is worth anything and i despise that. would much rather take a slightly 'not good' album that's fun than a 'good' album that don't get much out of
