I finally got around to listening to the Sadistik album, I was putting it off for the longest time. And wow. The production is fantastic, and the rapping is great to boot. I'm legitimately impressed by how much he stepped it up, even though The Balancing Act was also a really strong album.

That's what happened to me when I was using deluge, so I switched over to qBittorrent and that's been working perfectly for me (besides uploading new torrents). I'm downloading the new Sadistik album right now.

Yeah, the concert was crazy. I don't use what.cd often anymore, but I'm glad I have it so I can get new releases whenever the mood strikes me. Which client are you using?

I would say that Another Green World is the best summation of Brian Eno's career. It best highlights his transition from rock and rock production to his more ambient, experimental material. As for Aesop Rock, it was amazing! Everyone there was really amped and friendly, and Aesop and his crew definitely knew how to get the crowd moving. I even got a picture with Busdriver: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BC9rxdYCYAAAjXJ.jpg:large I got a picture with Aesop too but my phone ran out of battery so it didn't save :/

I finally got around to listening to the Nick Cave album. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of that kind of style. The lyrics were great, and the instrumentation was well-done, but it just didn't entertain me. It's why I don't really listen to people like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Also that Sadistik track is really good.

One of my personal favorites is Tracing Stars by Butterfly Explosion. It's nothing near as heavy or intense, but it's got that dream-poppy feel to it that I happen to love. If you liked the heavy, drone-like aspect of m b v, try out M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts.

So I just listened to mbv for the first time. Wow. The tracks if i am and new you will need to grow on me, but the rest is the most refreshing thing I've heard in a long time. It did not disappoint.

I haven't gotten a chance yet. I got home this morning at 2AM and uTorrent started freaking out at me. I finally managed to download it on the other client and I transferred the files to my phone, now I'm just waiting for an hour where I can listen to it.

The Starfucker album kind of disappointed me. It was really average, not cohesive, and I didn't particularly enjoy the new sound. They did have a few good tracks which are worth checking out, though: Beach Monster, Kahlil Gibran, Say to You, and Atlantis. I don't know what time it'll be released tonight but apparently they're taking the website live right now, which is a huge excitement for me. I wouldn't be too surprised if it isn't released tonight though.

Yeah, they're a shoegaze band, I'd start with their album Three Fact Fader. Ummagma was pretty good overall. A bit inconsistent at parts, but really good standout tracks. Colors is my favorite. Also, speaking of shoegaze, have you heard of My Bloody Valentine? Their last album, Loveless, is a certified classic along with their other album Isn't Anything. They haven't released an album since 1991 because they weren't able to top loveless... but according to Facebook, they're slated to drop their new album tonight. This is history right here https://www.facebook.com/mybloodyvalentine/posts/404728879618015

I haven't heard the new Emancipator album, didn't even know he released something. I remember something a while back about his own record label though. I'm going to download it now and hope it gets me through the rest of winter.

Glad you like it man! If you're getting into St. Vincent she has an EP of songs she made at Berklee. It's called ratsliveonnoevilstar, it's more math-rock type stuff and very rough but I like it nonetheless.

It is hard if you don't really know what you're doing. The first time I tried I hadn't read through the interview prep guide in its entirety, and I was lost with basic torrenting terminology. The second time, I made sure I knew the ins and outs of transcoding, torrenting, and the what.cd rules and I did fine. Basically it's like taking a test on material you learned in school. You can find the material you'll need to know here: http://www.whatinterviewprep.com/

The Tycho album is worth checking out, but it doesn't have a lot of replay value in my opinion. I really liked Portishead though. You should check out Björk's album Post, I think you'd like it. It's got a mix of a lot of styles, and Dummy reminded me a lot of it. And yeah, I passed the interview! Now I don't have to limit myself to whatever's not being attacked by the RIAA...

xD I know right, but I can't just tell my family "naw, I mean, yes, I love music, but don't give me that, I can just download it for free illegally" lmao. so I suck it up, and use the damn iTunes giftcards, every holiday, haha. I'd much rather get an Amazon card, so I could buy the CDs instead, or, well, anything I want, Amazon's freakin awesome, lmao. yea, a lot of people prefer XBox, and I see why. I'll be getting one in a year probably. k, thanks for the rec, haha. hell yea, El-P, The Cold Vein would probably make my Top 40, at the least

Yeah, I've heard both Emancipator albums. I prefer Soon It Will Be Cold Enough because of the Sadistik beats. I haven't listened to the Tycho album yet; I'm planning to tomorrow after I listen to Dummy. I usually listen to St. Vincent at least once per week haha, she never gets old to me.

Hi Pro Shao, I haven't had much time for downloading or even listening to music recently because of exams but I noticed everything got taken off filetram a while back. Last time I checked filestube still seems to have plenty of working links even though about 50% of them are down. For newly released albums newalbumreleases.net has almost everything and if you still can't find a link, then torrents are the answer even though they're usually slow.

Marry Me is my favorite of the albums, simply because of the innocent yet dark mentality that she adopted on it. I think Actor is probably the best from a musical perspective, though. I just downloaded Dummy, I'll probably listen to it sometime tomorrow. Any other trip-hop recs?

Glad you liked the album! St. Vincent kind of grew on me in the same way. I found some cuts off Marry Me kind of weird at first, but it took me only a couple more listens to get really into them. And as for Portishead, I've heard a bit about them but never really listened to them. Where should I start?

Damn, I remember reading a quick summary of Vast Aire's and Def Jux's beef but I never knew it was that bad. El-P really made a fool out of Vast, I really hope he got himself together after that. CanOx was too good to go out in that sort of ending. And Strange Mercy is generally regarded as her darkest and most mature album. I'd suggest listening to Actor before you tackle Strange Mercy; it's nice to hear the progression of her three studio albums. I actually might go see Tame Impala too in March; a friend just invited me.

As far as releases are concerned, I think QN5 has kind of screwed itself over, quite honestly. The last couple years were golden for their label, but the recent inactivity and failure to follow through on things has kind of left fans disinterested, from my viewpoint at least. I understand that a lot of the time it's red tape and politics, but they need to churn things out faster if they want to stay relevant. I think that the albums will be great when they finally come out, though, especially with the crowdsourcing for Strange Journey Vol. 3. And people tend to be extremely stubborn and refuse to acknowledge any opinion but their own. I've had to deal with plenty of these kind of people in the past, and it's better to just ignore them. Choose your battles carefully, I say. I see you listened to Love This Giant. How'd you like it? I got to hear most of those songs live!

I do think that his album will be released. His mom seems extremely devoted to getting the rest of his music out, and I think it's just a matter of time before all those unreleased cuts hit the web. And I answered your question; that story made me extremely angry. Ugh, I can't believe people live like that.

Haha, I'm pretty sure Eyedea sampled it in one of his songs but I can't remember where. Innerspeaker was also really good. A bit less cohesive than Lonerism in my opinion, but still incredibly consistent and energetic. How's Reptilians?

Glad you liked it, Office Space is my favorite movie by far. I enjoy how it's more than a simple comedy movie, it's a commentary on some aspects of human nature. And you might like Justice, but I'm not too sure. If you like Daft Punk, you'll probably like them too. Their album Cross is really good.

lmao, I hear XBox is better, and I definitely prefer XBox controllers to PS3 ones, but for now, I've just got a PS3. I'll be getting a 360 when I can afford one. i got AC3 muahaha, which has been verrrry fun. yea, I posted a q about jazz, and the only response I got was some weird troll and that was it, so I just was like "......good to be back....?" lmao. HELL YEA, I will - I've got some iTunes cash leftover from xmas, so I'll buy some songs - top choices ? APOS is still one of, if not my favorite album because of you, haha

Haha, I should've put two and two together. I downloaded Innerspeaker today, I am transferring it to my phone right now and I'll let you know how I like it. I have not been on Y!A in the longest time xD at least actively - I went on like 2 weeks ago to see what regs were there, but it was just a lot of trolls, so I just kinda watched for 2 min and then left xD

In the next town over we have a record shop called Bullmoose. Pretty nice place, I'm going to apply for a job there soon. I just listened to Lonerism, and wow.... that was refreshing. I really liked it a lot and that'll definitely rise in my charts, fast. Lots and lots of energy. Have you heard of Pond? They're also an Australian psychedelic band. They're not as good as Tame Impala, but their album Beards, Wives, Denim is worth a listen.

Office Space is a great movie, I highly recommend it. Lots of insight. I haven't seen Into the Wild, but it looks like something I should check out. It's a really frustrating thing to have ambitions like that in this generation because we're so bound by money. If I want to be able to achieve my goals, I have to finance them. But the only lucrative and secure things around are in professions that I find very unappealing. I'd much rather just make small cash working in a record store, surrounded by music enthusiasts. /mu/ was very abrasive at first in terms of both layout and the community, but it grew on me. It has a lot of great music recommendations.

Exhausted Love has had a considerable influence on me, I think, along with the movie Office Space. Also my dad is kind of like that; he's a good guy and I love him but he's for the most part pretty boring and settled down. I just really don't want to turn out like that when I'm his age. Also I don't want to be resigned to doing one thing for the rest of my life. I want to try to do as many things as possible. Pretty big dreams though. And lol @ that question, "I'm feeling a light dope to a solid trill."

Huh, I didn't notice those posts. Haven't heard of those; I'll check them out. I probably didn't see Mrs. Larsen's post about the biography because I recently hid everyone from my news feed but Lil B haha. I've tried it twice, but I've resolved not to do it anymore because the second time ended rather badly... with a state trooper and parents and stuff. I prefer Robitussin; I like the effects more and I can still function socially. And honestly given the choice I would go to Colorado, I'm applying to university everywhere so I can get out of the Northeast. I actually recently was accepted to Embry-Riddle over in Daytona Beach; I just really want to leave home and go somewhere that doesn't have a strong winter. My biggest fear is being trapped in a corporate jungle as an engineer, knowing I spend most the week in a cubicle and knowing that I made every decision just to further a career. It's transcendental, but I want to do something that doesn't make me feel like I've wasted my life.

I've been hearing a lot of Tame Impala on the radio lately (satellite radio station; don't get too excited) and I've been meaning to check them out but I could never find a download for Lonerism until today. In the past few hours, I set up a torrent client so I can download things with ease, but that puts me at a higher risk of viruses. Have you heard of what.cd? It's basically a torrenting network made up of a bunch of audiophiles; their rules are very strict and you can only join if you have certain knowledge about file formats and such. I'm trying to study up so I can set up an account and start downloading more things more safely. And I love El-P dude, haven't listened to him in a while but I think he's definitely a great producer and lyricist. Really likes to go his own way with whatever he does. As for recommendations, have you heard of Starfucker? If you're into electronica and like upbeat music, I highly recommend their album Reptilians. Do you have any recs?

Yeah, one of the main points of 4chan is anonymity and the fact that you don't have to sign up, you just start posting. Some people use names because they want other frequent users of the site to be able to identify them. Personally I find that it helps me with a lot of things; I'm getting more interested in music, fitness, fashion, etc. Do you have any info on the Eyedea bio? I've always wanted to read a life history of his...

Hey, man, it's great to hear from you! I've been pretty good actually. Busy as hell, but good. I don't really go on Yahoo anymore, I prefer to go on 4chan's /mu/ board because I find myself developing more diverse tastes. I've branched out into liking more ignorant hip hop like A$AP Rocky and SpaceGhostPurrp, and I'm also getting more into entry-level dream pop/shoegaze like Cocteau Twins and Engineers. I'm planning on going to an Aesop Rock concert with my buddy on February 12 and a Kendrick Lamar concert with a few other people on April 21, so those should be exciting. My favorite artist is now St. Vincent, who is a very beautiful and talented pop musician. Got to see her and David Byrne back in September, I highly recommend their album Love This Giant. I feel a bit guilty though because I haven't listened to Eyedea and CunninLynguists in forever, and they both hold special places in my music taste. How've you been man? What have you been listening to lately?
