Wow, so do you. At some point I decided that it was a sad thing when people got stuck on the same music they grew up listening to and would start to tune out anything else, culminating in "they don't make good music anymore". I put some effort into finding good new music every year. It's so worth it.

*takes off hat* Respect to a scrobbling veteran! 😎 Makes me want to kick myself that I deleted my 2005 account... You have a delicious amount of Bryan Ferry plays!

My parents listened to a lot of Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry growing up, and they saw Bryan live around when my mom was pregnant with me. My name is also Bryan, though my parents refuse to say that I'm named after anyone in particular, there's no way they chose the Y spelling by accident.

Haha, "Yeah, sure, mom, you didn't name me after Bryan Ferry". That is pretty cool, though. Thank you for sharing that little story!! :)

It does blow my mind that I can see exactly what I was listening to over 20 years ago. This page became a diary of sorts. My friend who introduced me to the site and had a profile even older sadly seems to have deleted theirs within the past year.

I got into Tegan and Sara around 2005 because they were being played on the radio at my work. I haven't followed them at much recently, so now I wonder what they're even up to! As for Madonna, I mostly just love a few albums from the mid 80s to early 90s. I remember being embarrassed as a teen to admit how much I loved the song Open Your Heart.

I never thought I’d find someone else with Siouxsie and the Banshees, Kate Bush, and Marina all in their top 10 artists… great taste (if i do say so myself)! :)

It's surprising given how many artists we've both listened to, and how much music is out there. I don't ever expect to find anyone with a similar top 10, and it's always cool when it happens. I may check your charts for anything I am overlooking. Also thinking of putting a IG link on my profile because it would be nice to chat to some music people sometime. When I look at my shoutbox I feel like I've left a lot of people hanging. And really it's quite difficult to just meet people who agree with me on music in my everyday life.

I'm always dreaming of whatever the next discovery will be, though it feels like I haven't found a new musical love in a while. Perhaps I would find some inspiration from your charts. At least half of what I listen to comes from people on last.fm recommending me stuff.

It's okay; I love a couple tracks, and the new mix of Zeroes is pretty good. I do tend to like 80s music, though, and understand why fans of the classic rock style were put off. What do you think?

Happy New Year, Bryan <3 Expect a proper message at some point. Which would have happened more in 2019, except the world went nuts, and nobody is on top of their correspondence really, are they. Wishing a safe and peaceful 2020 for you and your family & thanks for so much music.

Hey there! There's an editing tool as a subscriber where you can alter past scrobbles. I used the editing tool and a script to convert all the old plays into the new name. Probably more trouble than it was worth but I was just trying to see if I could do it.

Dear MachineOfaDream, I came to your page just to enjoy all the Siouxieness and overall excellent taste and then I read this shout, which might contain a fabulous solution for my Library. Could you please tell me if this idea of mine is a utopia: I would like to have the names of Russian composers in original cyrillic, but I don’t know if it’s possible only via ‘Edit Track’ option (which would be too tedious, even if it’s bulk edit), or perhaps via ‘Edit Albums’ (which would be acceptable) or perhaps there is a way to ‘Edit Artist’ (which would make me faint from happiness). I’m only interested in changing the Artist’s name. If it’s possible, I would subscribe in a NY minute! Sorry for bothering you. In any case, congratulations on your Library and presence in Siouxsie and the Banshees shoutboxes and on this site of ours. (Thanks to Hixi-Ponn too)

Aw I'm glad you can appreciate my taste in music. First, I'm not entirely sure that editing tracks is a subscriber only function anymore so just make sure you don't already have it by clicking on the three dots next to a track and see if the option is there already. I've just been subscribed a while to support the website, and I'm no longer sure which things non-subs have. The edit function does let you edit anything about an individual scrobble except for the time it was scrobbled. You could change every track in your library to the same track using this feature if you wanted to. So I think what you're describing should be possible. You can't edit albums directly, but by changing what album a track is associated with you can indirectly alter it.

JustStyle
Thank you ever so much for your quick response! That’s so nice of you to think of that possibility but it is still a subscriber only function. The fact the time stamp stays as it was is fabulous, I love that. So, the indirect Album edit could be the best solution for me! Thank you so much for this info. I didn’t expect anything less from a true Last.fm ambassador (class of 2005). Keep on keeping on with the Banshees!

I prefer Bowie overall, but Prince was a big influence on me in high school back in the 90s. I might not have gotten into Bowie in the first place without my musical education from Prince.

Hey, how is it going? You don't know me (I know), but I released my first EP this month along with a video. As I compose, record, produce and mix all by myself, I end up being limited in ways to share around my project, so I'm sharing around here, also I apologize for flooding your chat with this type of info. But if you're interested and want to hear, the songs flirt with elements of dream pop, lo-fi and shoegaze: https://youtu.be/YLwXzEJpRM4

Yeah, that's right. Their lyrics seem to be so universal and this song is a perfect example. Times change but some meanings stay the same. They could also return to the studio finally , to record some new stuff. I'm sure Roland's observations about the world could lead to very wise and very intellectual lyrics and music.

I’m so happy to have introduced you to Janelle! As for Annie, during the concert she reached out and touched my hand(!!!) and was just generally looking at me and my friends a lot so after the show we thought we would try our luck meeting her outside the venue. She got in the van and it started to drive off and then it stopped and she opened the door and jumped out. It was awesome!

Thanks! I like that we both have St. Vincent and Marina in our top artists. It doesn't seem like there would be an obvious connection, but there must be something to it! As for Bowie, well, he has one of the largest discographies of anyone you'll ever try to get into. My #1 advice is not to just focus on his classic rock era. Honestly, I don't even really like his first two albums. His best music is probably from the late 70s and early 80s, but also from the mid 90s onward most of those albums are pretty good. Foe example, 2002's "Heathen" is essential, especially the second half.

I hear David Bowie brought up a lot when people talk about Annie Clark. I know she is heavily influenced by him so that might be one reason, haha. Thank you so much for your advice! When I try to get into him I'll go chronologically from the late 70s and hope I find an album I really like.

Don't expect much from anything he did in the 80s other than Scary Monsters or Let's Dance. However, those two albums are good.
