Hey, sorry about adding you, but you seem to have good taste in music. Plus you're from Dunedin, which is weird.

First off, Algernon Cadwallader's first album. Obviously. Then, Snowing. Seriously, get Snowing. Everyone raves about Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit but I really liked their 2011 release better. Waaay less active and energetic, but you should have American Football's album if you don't already. Ecstatic Sunshine are awesome too, Freckle Wars is lighthearted instrumental fun. You might have heard of them, but This Town Needs Guns has a really solid LP in the same-ish style called Animals. If you like that, check out the 2009 EP by a guy called Invalids. On a strictly more Math-Rock side, try A Forest Of Polarity by Rooftops (dem track names), Addicts And Drunks by Ghosts & Vodka and just everything Tera Melos has done (though if you're sick of instrumentals, start with Patagonian Rats - which is awesome). Fundamentally though, Algernon is pretty much a "Kinsella worship" band, so maybe go check out some of the 90's groups that kicked off that phase for similar sorts of stuff.

yeah bro, those are probably the best ones to start with. Clumsy is their best record for sure. Billy and the older albums are a bit more rough, and the newer ones take a bit of getting used to. get into it!
