Hmm, that's a tough one. I'd definitely say to start with Bright Eyes. My favorite album from them is "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" A lot of people like Fevers & Mirrors, too, but I haven't listened to it in like two years. (Shame on me.) As for the solo stuff, I like his S/T album, but not a lot of people fall in love with it like I do.
