It's arguably the most vain and insipid underground crossover genre recently, it never manages to have one interesting riff whatsoever combined with cheesy garden variety "leftist" lyrics which are completely unacceptable for black metal. Pretty much an outsider genre both for crust and black metal - I guess most people in this genre are wanna-be crusties who were never accepted in DIY crust circles and try to seem innovative.

Actually the "table" line is about a desire to exist, to be acknowledged as the person one is, rather than the distorted view others have of you. It's why "I am the table" is just one line in a list of things the song's narrator claims to be. And it ends with just "I am, I am, I am" to emphasize this. The table line makes a second appearance in a song much further in the album as "you think I'm some kind of a table/you can rest your feet on when you're able" which clarifies the change in Lulu's way of thinking and development. The album is supposed to be an adaptation of Frank Wedekind's two plays about the young girl named Lulu. it's not a bad line per se, it's just taken out of context. just like "I'll swallow your sharpest scuttle like a colored man's dick" lol.

Honestly it's the incredibly strong hate reaction to Lulu which I find weird. I mean, I get disliking it, there's plenty of reasons why one would. But I don't get the whole "cherrypick a few lines, make them into memes, call it the worst album in history" thing that happened. That's wayyy out of proportions IMO.

I have a pretty high tolerance for wanky ambient, thankfully! yeah, that Theocracy, I was rec'ing based on your overall top listens, if that doesn't reflect what you're into anymore I understand completely. I think they're a shamefully undervalued band when it comes to prog/power metal to be honest. They seem to have the most well-written clean vocal melodies I've heard in metal so far.
