Admittedly TTT's album is half amazing, half meh so I see where you're coming from - I think I like it so much because all the music videos so far are ace! Mogwai's album was great! Slight krautrock influences which was a nice change and just a different vibe from previous albums - assuming you went to the Manc gig I think I was there too y'know. Should've met up for a pint haha!! Highlight live music-wise was Jaga Jazzist in London and Supersonic Festival - both were kinda pricey but worth every penny :) I think if you'd asked me the same question a month later my response would be totally different; very fickle lately and swinging from album to album - definitely check Apparat's album of 2011 too. I vow to check out your suggestions though assuming I remember haha :) Would be easier if I still had premium on spotify but nevermind. Not sure if grindcore will be up your street but hell, worth giving it an open minded try huh! DiG are brilliant - try Tyrant? http://youtu.be/OJy458WaMsg

Haha, I know right! Surprised you even recall all that banter :p Loads of ace releases (most of which I think you've heard of) but in no specific order:- Silent Running - 65daysofstatic, Vessels - Helioscope, Tycho - Dive, Ed Gein - Bad Luck, Three Trapped Tigers - Route One or Die, Stendeck -Scintilla, Necro Deathmort - Music of Bleak Origin, Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, Battles - Gloss Drop and of course ASIWYFA - Gangs. That'd be my top 10 for now it's very liable to change since there's loads of albums on my 'to thoroughly listen to' list and a ton of other albums I absolutely loved besides those 10. ISAM from Amon Tobin was great too! Then there's all the awesome EPs/mini albums too like the final release from Down I Go - Gods which is pretty immense! How about you man? Always happy to mooch some suggestions from you haha :) Any gig highlights?

I haven't listened to the new 65 either, I'm going to give it a download later this week. I've heard of O'Brother before, I think they toured with Biffy once if I remember, but I've never listened to them. I will definitely give it a go soon though. Another album that might interest you is Dad Rocks! album. I haven't heard it yet, but the songs sound amazing live. Very Owen-esque in places. You should listen to the new Owen album if you haven't already too, it is incredible. It will be in my top 10 by the end of the year with ease.

The new songs that YL played live are amazing. One of them is the heaviest thong they've done. Sucks you missed out on them live, they have been incredible both times I've seen them. I've just remembered that the 65dos live score is out next week. I don't know how I forgot about that, especially since the song I've heard from it is so good.

I''m secure enough in my music taste to not care if some shit gets scrobbled ahah. I'm not sure what releases are still left to come out this year. I seem to have lost track on a lot of stuff since I've moved to Uni. The new Pianos Become the Teeth album is should be on your radar. Beautiful post-rock influenced screamo and I can't wait to finally have the new Young Legionnaire EP, if that comes out this year. I think I tend to use the next months of so to catch up on what I've missed so far. I'm mainly looking forward to the new Tall Ships and Mars Volta albums coming out early next year more than anything.

Thanks for the recommendation, dude. I have heard good things about O' Brother, but I haven't gotten around to checking them out. I will do so now!

Damn right, you couldn't be more correect if you tried. I like that it sounds like a progression from the second half of They Came From The Sun as well. Have you heard the new ASIWYFA yet, it is outstanding.

Yeah, this EP is nothing like anything they've done and a huge step forward. "Muddy" was the used to describe the guitars when I first heard Gold, "crunchy" works as well. Both the Hawk and Defeater are very good. CH's album is basically 50 minutes of riffage, so good. I've heard only goodthing about Trap Them also. I was going to check them out soon but I just got two albums in the post and they're are still some other releases I want to give a decent amount of play time before. On post-oceansize stuff, I'm sure stuff on British Theatre has already started which will be a good one, i imagine since it is Mike and Gambler. Also, new Kong will be released this year.

It is a huge departure from them their previous material, the musicanship is stunnng. It worth spending some time letting it grow on you as it is much more layered and less in-your-face-i-hate-people-especially-women-fuck-you-all-i'm-going-to-cry.

Well you can only go through so many songs before needing a fix of Butters or Randy Marsh getting in there somewhere haha... Thanks very much man, much appreciated! I actually put all the gwfaa EPs for free the other day at http://goodweatherforanairstrike.bandcamp.com/ if you fancy downloading them or anything. My girlfriend is currently in the same situation as you waiting on the next student loan to come through (hopefully tomorrow!), so i know how you're feeling! What are you studying :)?

Yeah me and my mate also enjoy Embassy Row a lot, fingers crossed for it! Look out for an asian kid in a black Pavement t shirt and come chat Pavement/Post-rock with me and my mate :D. Based on the comments in the shoutbox, it looks like it will only be the four of us haha. Enjoy the show and maybe see you there!

I think the whole thing works really well as an album, I first head Growl on the EP that came before the album and that literally blew me away. Body Riddle is pretty sweet too :) I struggle to find a lot of electronic stuff I really like but Clark has definitely nailed it for me, there's some other artists around doing interesting stuff but I've not had the time lately for any new discoveries :/ Nedry are worth a look if you haven't already, only thought I'd mention them since they're supporting 65 tonight!

Neigh worries man, just a case a spend too much time at mine xD I think Totems Flare is one of the best things I heard from last year but it's quite a niche album :/ A lot of my loved tracks from it are from ages ago...I mean I remember hearing Crash Tactics, Piano Fights and Go Complex (aka RBTS) so I liked the live versions a lot more. Otherwise I don't think the release is coherent as an album- it feels like a compilation of tracks they've bunged together (and in the case of Piano Fights it feels somewhat overworked) whereas their older stuff was more structured and worked better as a single piece, I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. I do like it though and I appreciate why they've made such a massive change to their style...the material is really good live too I have to admit! Might make it into my top 10 of 2010 but there are a few other releases that simply blow it out of the water.

Pretty good dude, uni drawing to a close for summer and everything seems to be going well :) How about you, got some festivals lined up for the hols? Yeah, Take Me Into Your Skin is pretty amazing admittedly his other material isn't as strong but still nice. But at least check Totems Flare on youtube or something, definitely worth owning the album in any case :) I 've heard the tracks they leaked one by one like Crash Tactics (which I really like) but I refuse to give in to whole album leaks since the album will be arriving in a matter of days! What do you think of it btw? I feel like I'm nowhere near as excited as I ought to be but that's kinda because I've kind of lost faith in 65 since their live shows aren't what they used to be. Moan moan moan xD I'm starting to understand why they've been referred to as a post-rock boyband hahaha....

Thats cool, Im glad your well. Im currently going through my exam period which is like a month long! but yea gotta be done. You enjoy being done man! As for the Clyro shoutbox even though its the most appealing thing about the shoutbox it could be due to the fact that nothing but utter shit is spoken on there. Funny shit may I add, you should pop in more often. So you first or second year at uni?

I wasn't aware Amplifier and Oceansize were buddies. That's cute! And glad to meet another not-really-that-much-interested-in-Porcupine-Tree person. I'm feeling slightly less alone now.

I honestly can't see any sort of resemblance between Amplifier and Oceansize's sound. Amplifier are, to me, like a proper, non-boring version of Porcupine Tree. But you didn't hear it from me :x Cheers for that somewhat compliment and yeah, I still need to listen to Oceansize a little bit more. I might do it soon... Unless Amplifier finally release The Octopus and kick Oceansize into oblivion.

Well, I kinda never acknowledge this, but I don't think I like Oceansize at all. I've been able to enjoy a couple of tracks, but besides that I find them to be generally boring. I still need to give them a proper listen, though, but after struggling through a few quick listening sessions my desire to listen to their work has been progressively less and less. Judging by your music taste, I know this may come as a blasphemy to you, but it's just the way I feel about them. Amplifier, on the other hand, totally rock my socks.

Fuck, I thought I was a bloody nutcase for staying up so late! Good man haha. I'm sure I'll love all this post-rock stuff soon enough, my music taste is somewhat erratic so I'm due for a different genre soon xD I think I just had my fill of it not long ago and need something refreshing and different. Although I'm quite happy to write an essay with a band like Psyopus as my soundtrack o_O I'll get a hold of those albums tomorrow I think. Gonna be a long day though with lectures and shit in the morning...might end up doing later in the week >_< I thought you'd like Dextro...easily one of my favourite releases from last year. Just trying to rack my brain of what other similar stuff there is. Not in the best frame of mind at those our of the day though :p Check out his earlier album, pretty damn good too!

That's exactly what I mean man, good to know I'm not the only one who thinks like that xD The new material is totally different to everything else judging by what I've heard live on the last tour should be interesting at least hehe. I only got Unomia which was alright, but I'd expect the other releases are better. Shall be doing a late night working tomorrow so that should provide my soundtrack :P Dunno what to suggest, it might be something that grows on you? Then again, I know a lot of people that hate it. I love chaotic stuff like that with changing time signatures and such ^^ Personally I think that Daughters album is fucking amazing. I need to stop listening to it otherwise I'll ruin it for myself! But anyway, I think Dextro should be more up your street :)

Aren't they just? Sadly the bigger they get, the less I feel I like them in a weird sort of way. Just hope their new album revives my love for their music :/ The new album art isn't very 65-y at all :( Anyway, good on you for trying Clark! I'd say all his releases are pretty good but my favourites are Body Riddle and Totems Flare. Bloody amazing stuff! Oh and I had a wee listen of both the bands you suggested (despite being in a massive mood for grindcore) and think they're pretty good, need to give them a few more listens but Flica especially sounded really nice :D Cheers man!

That might be some good music for tonight then, done fuck all work so far today even though I promised myself I'd be working hard -_- Too fidgety! As far VS...I think most of his releases are awesome but his best are Downfall and that one with the birds on the cover art. I'm too lazy to look what it's called :P Breakcore is kind of a hard genre to get into I assume since it's so different to everything else out there so if you think it sounds shite, don't bother xD Aye, I needed something more current in my charts so it all had to go. I dip into the occasional Biffy now and again for nostalgic value still :P Might have to do the almighty reset sooner or later again hehe

Shit man...there's so many incredible electronic artists out there I wouldn't know where to start! I suppose it depends if you like breakcore too...a few awesome artists that instantly spring to mind are Trentemøller, Venetian Snares and Dextro. Can't say I've come across either of those artists you mentioned though so I'll check em out, cheers! Hahaha, I guess I don't scrobble as much as I used to. I had about 60k before I reset and even though I'd like to say my taste has changed since then...I honestly can't tell any more :/
