Hi BeccaPantz! We saw that you have a pretty good taste in music and thought that you'd maybe like our music as well. We are three girls from the forests of Sweden and we are going to record our very first album in Woodstock this summer! We would love if you checked out this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmTj6CzmAp4 ! Let us know what you think (it's much appreciated) by commenting the video, and also check out our cover of 'Kathy's Song' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44kjqZUC5PU that we got the chance to play live for Paul Simon! last august i saw gogol bordello at the ritz-- it's intimate enough, but still spacious and comfortable. i have every intention of arriving early on the 16th. ashley and i will be at the front of the crowd, gripping the stage, and drooling all of ourselves, even if we have to aggresively elbow our way there. it would be nice to see anna and yrself, soaked and salivating as well (i'm sure), sans irritating security dude blocking our view of joanna (of course)!

I played it cool, lol. I didn't want to go up there with a rehearsed, insincere sounding speech, but I had a general idea of what I wanted to tell her. I was amazed that it went so well, 'cause I was totally counting on myself blanking at the last minute.

duhh, I realized now that I'd marked my last.fm notifi's as spam. It was at an album signing in Toronto last month. I was about the 10th person in line, so she was still fresh when I got to her. haha. On my way up to the table, she went, "HIIIIIIIII SWEEETHAAAAWWT" (accent intact), then shook my hand when I got there. I said "Hi, Cyn!" I think I told her it was so nice to finally meet her, but I don't remember actually saying it. As she signed the album, I asked if I could have a hug. So I DIED when she held her arms out, gave her a hug and thanked her for her music and making a difference in my life. Cue violin strings... She looked really touched, but totally humble, and personalized my CD after that. ("What's ya name?") Strangely, I was calm the entire time, not nervous at all. Until I got outside and almost cried when I was explaining it to my friends, haha.

apologies for the delay in response. it was outstanding, surreal. her music breaks my heart like no other (with the exception of bobby dylan). i would have loved to overcome the cold weather and fatigue that overpowered my will to meet her. did you get a chance to see her after the show?

Florida?! I hope so! I would love to not have to drive six hours...and I feel like I couldn't possibly get enough of her. I would go again if it were next week, haha

well, then I'm glad I made the cut! and, that was a good idea, friending people -- it was a great crowd. I may or may not have peeked at your blog and admired the very impressive photography from the Joanna Newsom show, by the way.

The people I went with saw her play twice before and said she played for like 3 hours. That's what I want.

prooooobably his self-titled or powder horn. honestly, i've never been disappointed in a dosh track. it'll sink it's way into yr bloodstream in due time. then you'll be overcome with the urge to shake it.

two hours south-east in daytona beach, actually, but I study here at UF. you? couldn't help but notice that a sizeable proportion of Joanna Newsom fans at the ATL show seem to have indirectly reunited in your profile's shoutbox, haha, which is awesome. few are those in my friend circle who seem to so much as tolerate her music, sad as that is. have to agree with queenoftrees: the show was only enough to wet the appetite. I can only hope I'll get to see her play again sometime soon.

While we're at it, let's petition her to play a longer set. Atlanta was faarrrr too short. I could have stood there all night and listened to her whole discography.

man.. i was at the 2007 show too and it blew me away. i literally felt like Joanna was an angel lol, it was so so SO incredible. that was probably one of the best shows i have ever seen. i loved her then, but that live performance was so amazing i thought i might have died, lol. Of course this last show was amazing too, she's just ridiculous.

yeah that's cool, I'm usually hardcore but my friends and I weren't up for it that time. it seems like a lot of people from florida were there, I'm from Sarasota. It's a bitch to drive to Atlanta, but I've done it a few times now all for concerts. Did you see Joanna a couple years ago in Atlanta?

Nashville was great! I originally intended to go to the Knoxville show, but Robin Pecknold with Joanna was simply too much to miss. She was fantastic, as always. The band wasn't as banter-y between songs, but everyone ended up sitting down for most of the show so everyone could see. It was cool, but also insanely uncomfortable. Totally worth it, though!

Wow, if she came to FL that would be a dream, I would definitely be there. I'm from Tampa, so near St. Pete but I would definitely drive again, not sure I would drive to Atlanta though. I was right in front of her for the first couple of songs but I started to feel really crowded so I moved to the left side which I was cool with because then I was able to take in the concert more personally. I wish I could have been really close for Baby Birch though, I just didn't want to be that douchebag who interrupts the concert for everyone. Its funny before the concert, my friend was like "Usually, in any given situation, i'm surrounded by people who hate Joanna Newsom, so its weird to be around a bunch of people who like her". It was definitely a friendly crowd...She is the most beautiful person I have ever seen though. When she came out to tune her harp the first time, i'm pretty sure I stopped breathing.

It was so fantastic, Baby Birch killed me, and it was such a treat to see Peach, Plum, Pear...I wasn't expecting it. I have been obsessed with the new album since the concert, I can't stop reading and researching her lyrics. It was a dream come true, it was one of the things I HAD to do, so yeah I came from Florida and made the treacherous drive. I'm hoping that if she does a second American tour (which im sure she'll do) she might make it to Florida, I know they just completely redid Jannus Landing in St. Pete so maybe that could be a possibility. What did you think?

Excuse me. You're scrobbling the new Neko album and I am not. Can we remedy this?

Hello Becca. Well, yay to that! We both have great taste :) I see you have an Andrew Bird show lined up, lucky lucky. I saw him in November and he played Noble Beast stuff but I didn't know it yet so probably didn't appreciate him fully. And thanks, glad you like the blog :)
