"BVDUB and 36 releasing a new album with only a month's interval between, life's good~" - You posted that on the bvdub page, and I had not heard of 36, but I've listened to their latest album and I really like it. Thank you for the recommendation! :)

As for what difficulty I play at, the files I play don't really follow any difficulty scheme. I'm assuming that you're talking about pad files, since you did mention fast streams. On index (2 fingers) I'm decent, I could AAA 270 BPM streams at my peak. I have a videos where I play spread, but I deleted most of them. I don't play too often nowadays.

I think Stepmania as a whole got me into music. Found a lot of great tracks here and there, didn't really bother to venture out though. During the first year of using last.fm my most played artists/tracks were mostly stepped for Stepmania. Decided to expand my music taste from there, and found a lot of other artists to listen to. Was really into breakcore, IDM and all that because most of the really hard files on SM were breakcore or IDM. Wasn't quite into Japanese music until pretty recently, actually. But yeah, really grateful that I found the game as well.

Also I see that you('ve) play(ed) Stepmania, that's pretty neat. Would explain how you found Flashbulb and Sharpnel, haha.

Yeah, I can feel more uplifting vibes from Dream Tempest than his other albums - maybe aside from Hypersona. Hypersona is pretty good too, just not quite as visceral for me. A little too uplifting for my tastes, heh. I'll give Take Abe a listen soon, thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, I'm aware that he's making a new album soon. Haven't heard the previews though. Just gave the self-titled track a listen, it's wonderful. It's really fascinating to me that 36 is able to change styles quite often and still affect me so much cathartically. I do wonder if this album might be better than Lithea and Memories in Widescreen though... it might be judging from the first track.

Uh. That's a tough question actually. I tend to think that the most consistent artists (in my opinion) are my favorite. William Basinski is definitely the most consistent so I'd probably say him. Other notable artists would be Kplecraft (chiptune/jazz/fusion) or A Winged Victory for the Sullen (ambient/neoclassical). I like a lot of artists though.
