They're both very Lisbon-y sounding. The first one had a chorus with a line "Don't die for me" and was pretty short...not over 2mins. The second one was really lovely, and longer, and had a chorus with the line "I sing myself sick about you". When they started playing the first new song I was like "WTF, is this a cover?" and then at the end Ham said it was new. And for the second one, he said it was the first time they'd tried it on a live audience. I was so pissed that I didn't have a working camera...my friend tried to bring hers in but the bodyguards wouldn't allow it. Bullshit. Soooo cool, though. I'm sure some vids of these songs will surface on youtube soon if they continue to play them live like they have,

Just got back from Walkmen/New Pornies concert. Walkmen played two new songs. I am elated as shit.

I'm EXTREMELY surprised you didn't hate it, haha! Glad though, because I've listened to the album a few times now and I like it. It's completely different than anything they've done before and I respect that. But yeah, Machu Picchu, Two Kinds of Happiness, Games, and Under Cover of Darkness were my faves so far. I went on a super rant about the whole album on my Tumblr, if you care to read it. Haha.

Angles leaked...have you listened to it yet/are you planning on listening to it? You'd probably hate it, haha. I think a few tracks have grown on me, though.

I was just as surprised as you were! I must have forgotten. I hope they play it when I see them in October! But I'm thinking they'll probs just play We've Been Had from that album because it was their single, and play stuff mostly from Lisbon (which will break my heart a little because I love all their older albums). It'll prob be that, maybe Wake Up from EWPTLMIG, Louisiana, All Hands And The Cook, and Another One Goes By from AHMO, The Rat and Little House of Savages (and maybe Thinking Of A Dream) from B+A. I'm wondering what songs they'll do from Y&M because they had In The New Year and The Blue Route/Canadian Girl as singles but they also had a vid for Four Provinces, and I know they like to play On The Water - so I'm curious. And I'm sure the rest would be from Lisbon. Do you remember what the set lists were like when you saw them?

RESPECT! I love Vampire Weekend too, and that bit of news deff made me like them more as well. Even non Walkmen fans have to agree that Bows + Arrows is spectacular (though I'd argue all their albums are). I remember reading on VW's last.fm artist page that they have been compared to The Walkmen, which surprised me, but I'm glad they're being given the respect they deserve. I guess they're getting sued though, by the model who's on the cover of Contra - apparently they didn't have her permission to use the photo. Big deal, if anything she's more famous now - she should quit bitching lol.

Well so far I've only listened to Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Good album, very experimental sounding. Are You A Hypnotist? is my fave I think. And for The Walkmen, I guess I mean some of the slower songs sound sad in a poetic way. But it's deff lighter than previous albums, I really like the overall doo-woppy sound of it , haha. I agree that it's better overall than A Hundred Miles Off (but I still really like that album, though I know it's usually everyone's least fave). I'm pretty fond of EWPTLMIG, but I guess I think Lisbon is better overall because I like every song on the album and can listen to it from start to finish, whereas some songs like Roll Down the Line I skip on EWPTLMIG. Needless to say, I'm in love with The Walkmen all over again and I'm thinking of extending my coma into a hibernation!

Scratch that, this album is depressing. But in a beautiful way, of course. Can't stop listening to While I Shovel the Snow. P.S. - Like the Lips so far!
