Fogshaper
This album still is among the most dense albums I've ever listened to. The most amazing thing to me about this record is how it feels incredible calm and grounded, the guitars and the overall atmosphere feel warm and home to me. This obviously goes in stark contrast with what Black Metal - many of my favourite albums in the genre included - usually feels like. Absolutely a one-of-a-kind record. Celestial Lineage comes close and Thrice Woven is also a worthy successor, but this is likely to remain their Magnum Opus.

I hadn't listened to this album in years and I'm really not sure why. I still remember every note and it's just as stirring as it was the first time I heard it. If you haven't heard the vinyl version yet, go out and get it; it's worth it. The vinyl bonuses add so much to the album.

This is the one album, in my opinion, that most effectively represents their style. Diadem was very good, one of the better black metal albums of the 00's no doubt, but that album doesn't flow as well as this one. That album was more of a compilation of individual tracks, while I feel that this album is necessary as a whole, as it is. That is a mark of a great album imo... one that requires every single second of the recording to be complete, and I think this album is a representation of that, unlike everything else they've done. It's not one of the greatest albums of all time, but it's undoubtedly in my mind one of the greatest atmospheric black metal recordings of the past decade.
