I'm not sure about the "similar artists" listed above. As I wrote last month, Teo worked with and influenced (and was influenced by) the likes of Mingus, Miles, Brubeck and other jazz legends. There are also important connections to composer Henry Brant. A list of connected or similar artists might, therefore, include some of these figures rather than the artists listed above. I don't even know why they are listed as similar. Does anybody know?

What happened to the artist description and all the shouts that were here a few months back? I hope interested listeners will google him or check wiki and learn about his considerable contributions to both post-1950 jazz and classical music. He was a trained composer, saxophonist and a well known and brilliant record producer (he gave us Miles' Bitches' Brew & Kinda Blue--indeed Miles' "Teo" pays tribute to him). He formed the composers' workshop with Mingus in the 50's, pioneered "third stream jazz" or "jazzical"-- blending modern classical and jazz musics. He was a prolific, if uneven, composer in his own right. How is it that such a figure is found here to be utterly neglected? And why are all the old RIP shouts (he died a few years back) and the artist description both removed??
