Ian Crichton, born in 1956 in Oakville, Canada, is a notable Canadian guitarist and a founding member of the rock band Saga. Crichton began playing guitar as a teenager and became active in the mid-1970s Toronto live music scene, performing frequently in clubs with Led Zeppelin cover bands. In 1976, he joined his brother Jim, Michael Sadler, and Steve Negus in forming the band Pockets, which was later renamed Saga.
