Biografie
head-less is the name of the band from the German region Lausitz which aims to realize their own idea of electronic music. Their songs combine catchy melodies, danceable structures and a variety of electronic sounds. Stylistically their music could be defined as electro / futurepop with influences from different forms of electronic music. After several reshuffles, the band’s line-up is since 2001
Matthias Marko (keys, programming)
Rene Hentzschel (vocals, lyrics)
Markus Otto (keys, management)
At the end of 2002 head-less published their debut album “transponder”. The single “Licht im Grau” even became a club hit of the scene in their region.
2004 head-less participated successfully in the “Battle of the Bands” contest of the Sonic Seducer magazine. Their song “Ship of Agony” was rated into the TOP 5 by the renowned jury, out of 500 bands of the gothic and electro scene.
One year later they succeeded once again in this contest. This brought the motivation to produce further songs at the KOLTRON studio with Kolja Trelle, top producer of the electro / industrial scene. The collaboration resulted in the “Ship of Agony E.P.” which contained also remixes from Colony 5, Accessory and Assemblage 23 besides of new tracks. Thanks to comprehensive DJ and press promotion work “Ship of Agony” could establish itself as a club hit and the E.P. received numerous positive reviews in Germany and abroad. Furthermore, the E.P. kept its TOP 10 position in the GEWC for weeks.
2007 head-less released their long anticipated album “Rouge Et Noir” which was thematically inspired by Goethe’s “Faust”. This special concept was outstanding among the usual electro releases.
“Rouge Et Noir” claimed its TOP 10 position in the DAC charts for several weeks and delivered with “Triebjagd” and “Seelensturm” two potential club hits.
At the same time head-less kicked off their “Rouge Et Noir Clubtour” which confidently became an exceptional success story in the scene. Although head-less do not have a direct label contract, nor do they cooperate with a booking agency they played more than 150 gigs in Germany and abroad.
In 2008 head-less even went on a 5 weeks US-tour with highly acclaimed shows e.g. in New York and a terrific last concert in Mexico City. Their tour also took them to Russia, Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Italy, Estonia, Spain, Finland and of course to Germany. They played as support band for Melotron, Colony 5, Covenant, Mesh, Front 242 and VNV Nation, just to mention a few.
head-less concerts are a great experience due to lead singer René Hentzschel’s charismatic stage performance and they demonstrate that there is more to electronic music than just the cliché of a “static synthie show”.
In conclusion to the “Rouge Et Noir” concept head-less released in 2009 the “Seelenjagd E.P.” containing some remixes and live tracks from “Rouge Et Noir”.
2010 was characterized by intense studio work for their new CD “imperfect: mensch”, with only a few live shows. The new album was recorded in the Fastlane Studios in Dresden together with Rico Schwibs, member of Letzte Instanz. For the final mix and the production of a couple of songs they once again collaborated with Kolja Trelle in the Koltron Studio.
2011 head-less released their new album “imperfect: mensch” under the renowned scene label Danse Macabre. Of course there will be another club tour because head-less love the challenge of presenting themselves as underdogs to new audiences… to persuade them… to carry them away… to amaze them or simply blow their minds.
head-less are congenial realists who still live their dream… and sometimes this is just enough and there is no need for more.
