Band Biographies

Set Sail

Set Sail are an indie pop duo. Composed of Daniel Tongue (lead guitarist and bassist) and Hannah Brown (Vocalist and Guitarist). These two performers would seem the most unlikely musicians to work together, Hannah: a folk musician with a knack for heartfelt performances and Danny: a High velocity roaring indie riff making machine, but when you put the two together they make some beautifully inspiring music.

They formed in late November 2012, whilst studying music at Birmingham City University. They first met in 2011 at South & City College Birmingham. From constant live performances and working on assignments together, their friendship grew and a musical connection formed. After seeing how well they worked together they decided to start collaborating, which turned out to be a success. This was the beginning of Set Sail.

Set Sail started Recording their EP in late 2012 and released their debut single in April 2013. Their EP Back To Back, which they’re currently working on, will be released June 14th 2013.

The pop duo are working closely to uphold their signature sound previously heard in their debut single “You Don’t Seem To Learn”. They’re hoping to gig around the local area and make some connections with other aspiring musicians.

Danny And Hannah are currently working on an acoustic version of their EP which they will be adding to their live set. With this extra diversity added to their live performance, they will certainly not disappoint!

The Unchanged

The concept behind The Unchanged was the brainchild of Adam Martin, an accomplished musician in his own right, composing and performing music of all styles including funk, rock, reggae and even hip-hop under the alias Tiddles the M.C. Being a huge fan of Science Fiction, Comic Books and Graphic Novels, Adam was inspired to write his own science fiction stories. After writing many tales for his own personal entertainment, he found himself working on a story that he felt others would enjoy. He started to show people this particular tale and from the positive reaction he received he continued to work on this. Adam’s song writing was always very narrative and the story he was writing inspired a song called ‘Unchanged’ and this would finally become the storyline and the selling point to the other Band members, Mark Cox and Chris Harris.

Adam had known Chris and Mark for just over a year, working with them on different projects, when he finally approached them to work on this conceptual music project. They would both bring different skill sets to table.

Mark already managed his own record label ‘Hard As Nails Digital’ including 11 years of experience in the music industry being heavily involved with promotion, event management and production. He had also recently begun working for Access All Music as their Online and Social Media Advisor. He also has an impressive CV on the dance scene, DJing as far away as Australia and producing music with the like of well know Artists such as B.K., Defective Audio & Eufex. Mark’s skills in the studio and with sound design would be invaluable.

Chris, being the eldest of the three, had 20 years of experience in the music industry but mainly as a performer and DJ. Beginning his musical journey at 14 as a bass player in a local band, he would eventually perform in Covent Garden & Drury Lane (London) and headline The Malvern Mountain Bike Festival (Worcestershire), twice, with the last gig being in front of 2000 people. He also held a DJ residency at The Dorchester (Wolverhampton) for almost 3 years until its closure in 1999. However he had a passion for classical and film score music and, after taking a break from music to start a family, he returned to music spending the last 3 years studying composition and music theory extensively, whilst performing as a session bassist and DJing at various local Trance Nights. Chris would become responsible for the Orchestration.

After sitting down together to listen to Adam’s concept in depth, they discussed how this project could be delivered. Being a very science fiction based story they all agreed that they could use their various skills to compose and write collaboratively a very progressive, cinematic styled album incorporating Rock, Electronica and Orchestral elements to tell the tale... and from here The Unchanged was born.

Colombian Fever

Are an acoustic trio from Smethwick, Birmingham, all of the members sing, focusing on three part harmony, and play multiple instruments which help to offer a diverse sound and different performance at every show.

The band consists of Adam Martin (also of The Unchanged) aka ‘Tiddles the M.C.’, Andy Hitchcock (formerly of Come The Light and Skull Fox) aka ‘The Big AN-D’ and Matthew Bright who is an experienced brass player and human harmonising peddle aka ’ MC B-Write’, ‘Mr B’ or ‘Brightsmith’!

The three lads come together to perform acoustic versions of their favourite artists from The Eagles to Justin Timberlake, as well as some of their own quirky original compositions, such as ‘She Wants the D!’ and ‘Is it Hot In Here?... Or Is It Just Me?’

They display a great love for music and always have fun on stage whilst engaging the crowd.
