I don't listen to them as much as I did when I created my profile and used this nickname everywhere. I still like them though.

Hey your top artists list is awesome, so many of the same musicians that are among my faves. I see your Tor Lundvall scrobble count is epic and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind making some suggestions for similar colorful and reclusive ambient music?

Hi. If you like Tor Lundvall you should check out Leila-Abdul Rauf's solo ambient work. She has three albums (the first one has a cover artwork painted by Tor) that are all great and she also has released a split with Lundvall. Apart from her I haven't really found anything too similar to Tor's kind of ambient music.

Thanks! I've actually purchased all of Leila-Abdul Rauf's work on vinyl. It is excellent ambient music, quite cold and lonely atmosphere, too. Olan Mill makes great ambient music as well, Paths is a good starting point,

Yes, we have some top bands in common, like Mind.in.a.box and FLA. Which album do you recommend starting with when it comes to Carbon Based Lifeforms? I've only heard a handful of songs so far from friends.

My favorite after all this years is their first album Hydroponic Garden and the same title track, atmosphere like no other, for starting maybe first to check second album World of Sleepers, if you are more fore real ambient/drone then listen to their album Twentythree, this is my second favorite, i dont like their latest Derelicts albums, somehow it is empty.

Love the T-Shirt. Have you heard the new HF single? BTW, your top is Tor, I discovered him recently and am amazed.

Yeah, I've heard it on Youtube, haven't listened to the whole album yet though. I must say that I was surprised to see Roman release new material under the HF banner.

I was also greatly surprised. I guess they realized there are many people who would want some new material.

They also performed a comeback gig in 2019 on a festival (don't remember which one it was), so maybe that gave them some inspiration to write new songs.

Tor Lundvall is amazing btw. Seems like a great guy too, I used to talk to him on email 5 or so years ago when I suffered a heavy depression.

I will dig him further, I think. Hope you are better now, mental health issues suck, I suffered from anxiety and depression 2-3 years ago.

Yes, better now, although the current times we're living in now are pretty depressing and frustrating for everyone I think.

How much Drukqs does it take to become a psychonaut? I do not normally glorify such studies. But other than erowid have you found this to be a valuable resource? https://psychonautwiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

Oh. Well, personally I don't want to call myself anything. I've had a lot of experiences with psychedelic drugs etc with a lot of varying experiences, but I don't do stuff like that anymore (at least not very often). It got to a point where I felt I needed to put my foot down. Also, I don't think ego death is possible because everything we do out of our own will or stimulation, whatever it may be (helping other persons in different ways for example, which people see as the opposite of ego), feeds the ego in the end, a sort of fulfillment. At least the way I see it, but I can only speak for myself.

skalberg242
So whatever we do the ego will always be a part of the human mind in one way or another. That's what I think. I feel like people who claim they have no ego are lying and/or fighting themselves.

First time I heard Tor Lundvall it was "The Mist", then shortly after I started listening to "Empty City" if I remember correctly. So maybe those two albums are a good start. Many of his albums sound quite similar though and except for his debut album they're all ambient-like, but his music has a really distinct style and atmosphere.

Never thought aboit the mixing (I rarely think about the production unless it's really obvious that something really sounds really off and doesn't work for a particular band) but when it comes to bands that go for massive 15-20 minute songs it often takes time to digest. The beauty of music.

I guess the singing he does (although he doesn't use it extremely often, and some of his albums are instrumental) is a bit of an acquired taste. I personally love it and it makes his music stand out. It gives it an "ambient pop" feel that I've never heard from any other artist. Try out the album "Insect Wings, Leaf Matter & Broken Twigs - Early Ambient Recordings: 1991-1994". That one is a collection of early tracks that are instrumental.

New description of Ugasanie (I write it in english so m-spawn can read it too, since we all be conversin together n shit), this is going to be the good stuff.. "The Nenets, Tungus, Eveneki, Yakut share many beliefs and in the center stands the shaman. We follow him through his inner journey while tackling shaman's disease. Clouded consciousness and hysterical stupor clear signs of the Amanita Mushroom. His sweat covered body feverish while pulled to the lower world of spirit. Here his weathered body cut and torn to pieces by the spirits who cook and devour it. Meanwhile in the dim lit hut the shamans body starts bruising while the tribe watches over him. Reborn, the Shaman awakens, granted powers to traverse between worlds. With the gift to cure his tribe of sickness, to control animals and commune with the spirits."

First of all thank you very much for your consideration, that's so sweet of you, dude your description really gave me goosebumps. I'm really looking forward to hear the new stuff released by Ugasanie. Cryochamper really redefining the world of dark ambient like no one else ever dares to, i guess they are going to be the next CMI and surely but slowly if they continue they might achieve higher status in the realm of dark ambient,

Hey man. Not much, not been so active on lastfm lately. Finally got around to listen to Dark Matter and I'll agree with you and Fishzerg that it's great, especially a fitting listen now when it's dark and cold up here. Probably the best Lustmord album for over a decade IMO.

Do it. It pretty much continues where Faint left off. But I think the atmosphere is even more dreaded, it has some fragments from The Dull Routine of Existence and my favorite one, No Lights In Our Eyes. With BSE you kinda know what you will get it seems, but they have crafted their own unique sound that really touches deep into the human soul for both good and bad.
