Hahaha that is a bit much. I don't know what I would recommend to him since it's not even really Doom it's more Hard Rock/Blues Rock with occult themes. Maybe some Captain Beefheart like Safe As Milk/The Spotlight Kid. Now that I think of it there are some lyrics in Safe As Milk that go "Factry'nt no place for me, boss man let me be" so maybe not lol. David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World is similar. Sure he's never heard of that!

it's a lot like blu ray except there's barely anything on it that's good. oddly appealing in that way. i've looked through every title released on the format in every region and have a list of about 40 that I want to get. I have like 8 so far. looking at lots of them on ebay and so many of them are like 20 copies of meet the parents and nutty professor. that's very enticing, but if you don't throw in 30 copies of norbit then I'm afraid I'll have to move on. apparently lastfm no longer sends emails when i get a comment. hot new features. people are jumping ship... quick, make it even worse!

I liked the original pokemon red one where you could type "start9" and make it hit the start button 9 times in a row. That feature was short lived.

Yeah that's awful. Desperate and cynical attempt at making it back to the top 40. I've heard positive things about her album "Ray of Light". Speaking of awful music the person that composed a game I've been playing recently must be tone-deaf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovEnkFKiw9A

Faith No More pretty much created Nu Metal. Patton's alternating vocals also influenced Slipknot, Korn, Deftones, (hed) pe and a bunch of others. Deftones are so brilliant.

My favorite recently listened to doom band is Bell Witch. Although they play extremely slow even by doom standards. I haven't really liked bongripper at all though they have some great song names. "Reefer Sutherland", "Burnt Reynolds". I tried to come up with my own celebrity weed names, but I couldn't even come close to those 2. Just when Death Crawl had almost completely faded from my memory they crawl right back in. I forget what they were a ripoff band of. I think it was Neurosis. It wasn't that they were bad it's just that pre show was dragging on so much. That was the Deafheaven show I believe. It was like 2 1/2 hours of openers until they came on and Marriages was better anyway. Deafheaven sounded like butt, was likely using a backing track despite have 6 guitarists on stage and the only one that seemed to care that they were there was the lead guy.

summary: kevin owens hates america. john cena likes america. john cena agreed to disagree, kevin owens said nuh uh and ended the conversation by body slamming cena. evidently this is some contract signing ritual where both parties agree to have a full match at a later date despite having no further verbal communication. john cena is really boring but he can whip a hat into the crowd real good. seth rollins is a bitchboy. there's no other way to put it. my favorite part was during a tag match where there are apparently no rules and dudes just kept running out of the tunnel for no apparent reason. like someone entered the locker room and said "everyone out there we need more dudes!" there's going to be a tag tournament and all the dudes are invited. one of them took out like 4 dudes at once so it seems like a foregone conclusion. i was actually trying to watch some rugby but i missed it and the sky sports stream was playing raw instead so i said what the hell.

About half the county was without power last night. Someone apparently dug where they shouldn't and cut some lines. Slapped a portable headphone amp on my ipod, put a 3.5mm adapter on my hd650s and I'm telling you in that pitch blackness music sounded twice as good as it usually does. Maybe I'll do that more often. // I've about had it with last.fm the scrobbler stopped working with my ipod for ~reasons~. Think I'll just ditch it and use rym to keep track of what I've listened to. Not as immediate or precise as lastfm but it'll do the job.

Was looking through old OXM demo discs and found a demo in one of the first ones for Tony Hawk 2X. I'll let the box art explain it: http://www.covergalaxy.com/forum/attachments/microsoft-xbox/351d1147803930-tony-hawk-pro-skater-2x-scan-ntsc-tony-hawk-2x.jpg // WHY DON'T PEOPLE EVER TALK ABOUT THIS. Copies are real cheap too so I snagged one. Also you actually liked Beyond the Black Rainbow right? I watched a movie last night that must have inspired it heavily. It's called THX 1138. I found it devoid of plot, characters, various other things that I believe make movies movies, but evidently it's somewhat acclaimed anyway. Maybe you'll like it if you're willing to sit through it and tell me what you think of it. It's pretty impressive looking for the time, but I've read that George Lucas added shit years after the fact with computers like he did with Star Wars so most or all of the CG is probably that.

You should listen to the Korean tribute album named Blue Loveless though. It's entertaining for lack of a better description. My actual recommendations: Whirr - Distressor, Tokyo Shoegazer - Crystallize, The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa - Pigment.

Shoegaze is a dumb mess of a genre. I've tried for over an hour now to explain why without it being a mess as well, but I've failed. It really boils down to Loveless itself. The style of Shoegazing existed before it. The integration of Dream Pop with a more droney Noise Pop existed before Loveless. Yet none of those albums come close to sounding like Loveless. It's an album that so thoroughly outclasses those before it that attempted the same thing that it sounds nothing like them and makes many question if the genre really existed before Loveless. Albums before it either skewed closer to Dream Pop or Noise Pop whereas Loveless sounds like neither Noise Pop or Dream Pop by themselves. It was a fusion of existing styles that is so flawless that it ended up being completely fresh. The reason I've explained this is I've tried to think of what albums to recommend based on where Loveless skews so as to avoid just recommending cheap Loveless clones. My conclusion is that it doesn't skew.

If you want a "what do I listen to if I want to know if I can like this band at all" album then it's Houdini. So I would say Houdini --> Stoner Witch --> The Maggot --> Lysol. Lysol is my favorite, but it's an oddity in their discography. I still haven't listened to half of it myself. They make albums faster than you can listen to them. Don't know what setlist to expect if it's just their newest album or what. When I saw them a couple years ago it was their 25th anniversary tour and they played mostly stuff from Houdini, Stoner Witch and Lysol.

Yeah it is. I don't know what else to say about it though other than it's a great action movie. Bout the most generic thing you can say about it. The sequel is great too, but I haven't gone farther than that. / Listening to some Pumpkins huh? "They" actually released an album last year and I completely forgot to listen to it. Probably not missing much. / Also Marriages finally came out with their album. / Looking at a couple concerts in your area. Acid Mothers Temple (April 30th) and Melvins (June 25th). What do you think?

If they do end up playing detoilet then I plan on going and thanks for the recs. I have a huge folder of post hardcore/math/noise rock and they have to be in there somewhere. I like the emotional energy of post hardcore, the dynamic rhythm of math and the dissonance of noise rock. It's a good mix.

speaking of softmodding here's the bootleg-ass xbox memory card I made out of various things in order to transfer a hacked savegame and softmod exploit from my PC to my xbox's hard drive: - http://i7.minus.com/ibiZRnKuUAXIX5.JPG - as it turns out I'm really shit at soldering, but at the same time it's really hard to fuck up. I don't get it. Ok so Project Snowblind is another one of those OG Xbox games I wanted to check out. So I picked it up off ebay for under $4 shipped and it claimed it was new (sealed). It was sealed, but there was a key thing missing from the openy bit. I'm just going to send the pics I took of it to you and see if you can pick out the contradictions here with a legit sealed copy of Jade Empire as a reference. There are 3 contradictions in total and they either missed all of them or there's some sort of con going on, but that can't be. We're talking about under $4 shipped. Why bother. The disc also seems trashed. Haven't tried it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it got a read error. The seller has a ton of rep too. I don't get what's with this order. I'm not mad at all. I'll sort it out tomorrow and get a refund. I'm just kind of fascinated with the circumstances that could have led to this and if it was on purpose what is the logic behind it. http://minus.com/mbkLVGTw8eHZBI

Yeah I know. I just figured I would message you on there anyway. It wasn't a very urgent message or anything and you would see it eventually. That game is brutally difficult in places. I hit a wall (that lasted like 3 days) near the end where you finally fight the main bad guy that has been picking on you the whole game. I finally won the other day. It's both the best and worst boss fight ever. I felt like the game was done shitting on me after that, but it wasn't. Still haven't beat it. Started The Last of Us Remastered to give me some time away from banging my head against Breakdown and it's underwhelming. Hopefully the gameplay gets more interesting as you go on, but it's extremely tedious so far. Breakdown may be frustrating and cheap at times, but at least it's fun.

I guess the WWE isn't as goofy or gimmicky as that. You said there was a movement to mass cancel subs, but then the WWE announces that it hit 1 million subscribers. Funny how that works. Similar thing happened in college football where people said with the SEC out of the championship game the ratings wouldn't be high yet to that point the 3 playoff games had been the most watched cable broadcasts to date and the championship being the most watched. The two semifinals with each 28 million viewers and the championship having 33.5 million. Any publicity is good publicity. Something along those lines. Seems to me like what the country wanted was for the SEC to be knocked OUT of the championship game for the first time since 2005 and that's what Ohio State did. In a way OSU began this SEC elitism with their back to back championship losses in 06 and 07 and on January 12th they ended it. Florida State, who are ACC, won it last year, but are still southern so the perception wasn't changed.

Disappointed that a guy called roman reigns doesn't wear a centurion helmet in the ring. In college football I generally cheer for underdogs or teams that would piss the most people off if they won or teams that would potentially benefit my team by winning. It gets pretty convoluted, but it all comes together in the end. Like this: http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?id=400610325 WOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Also the Wizards are one of the better teams in the league right now and I'm not hearing the end of it.

For some reason lastfm scrobbled it like 9 times concurrently, but it picked a good album to do it to. Too bad they only have 2 albums. I've been looking for bands with a similar sound and energy so I'm going to be listening to a lot of post hardcore/math rock/screamo in the near future. That's usually not my kind of thing, but I really like BATS. One of those pleasant surprises you got when you go outside of your "comfort zone". Not that they're abrasive or inherently off putting or anything like that.

Been pretty sparse on the movie watching and I haven't really liked a whole lot. I'm going all the way back before halloween with some of these. From Beyond 7/10, Repulsion 7/10, Edge of Tomorrow 7/10. I watched Wreck-It Ralph the other day and ended up really liking it. My impression was it was a story we've all heard before, but they pulled everything else off in a way only Disney could, 8/10. Everything else has been lower. Watched The Masque of the Red Death (1964) because it was sampled in a doom song I like. Turned out to be the best part of the movie though 6/10. I watched the first 2 Indiana Jones movies not too long ago and don't remember a whole lot from them. I lump them in with Star Wars as those movies that older people have never shut up about since their childhood, but I missed out on them and when I finally see them I can't separate them from the praise I've heard about them for so long. They're just good movies. That's as far as they go for me.

I ended up dropping it at the part in the school where you have to turn these things and line it up so you can walk through. I very much stayed away from guides and everything up to that point was easy enough to figure out, but that was one of the kind of "puzzles" I can't stand and was the last straw for me after what that school puts you through. It was more video-gamey than I thought it would be and what I mean by that is at a certain point I picked up on all the enemy patterns and where they were going to be and how to avoid them 100% because they have you going back and forth through those damn halls 100 times and it just lost any form of tension or atmosphere and then I got just before the end of the school finally and they throw some mind numbing crap like those turny things at you as a final fuck you. No game, fuck you. I'm putting down my shotgun, which I never got to use and I'm going home. Not for me.

That's probably their best along with The Usher and Beneath the Crown. As for Electric Wizard their heaviest has to be Return Trip, which is on their first album. My favorites are that, Funeralopolis and Priestess of Mars. Their new album came out today. Unfortunately they don't seem to do shows in the US for whatever reason.
