I'm going to whip your arse at fantasy festival! I'm totally selling out and choosing bands that score loads of points but that are super lame. I've got Lady Ga Ga, Shakira and Alexandra Burke!! Awesome that rammstein are right at the top of the points though; coincidentally they're one of the first bands i chose...

yeah, i loved that gig. The ep I got that night is still one of my favourites from all of the last 8 years of promoting. What musical projects you all involved in now?

Well, get his debut album, “The Sky Is Too High” if you are gonna get one, that’s my personal fave anyway, some real killer songs on there…. Unfortunately not, I think Blur wont get back together again now but where there is a will, you never know!! Yes the Fleet Foxes album is cool I have to agree with you, definitely sounds like My Morning Jacket “It Still Moves”-era and the National to me…the harmonies are so sweet arent they? A choral past hey Mr Guy…now there is an admission I was in one at the 1st year at school, then got kicked out for being a bad influence…shucks!

Indeed it is, the 1st half of the album is exceedingly strong (like a Mr Kipling cake, but I digress…) – 2nd half used to bore me a bit but I enjoy that now as well! Yeah, Alex’s Mom put a stop to it apparently didn’t she, I heard that…odd…wonder which headliner would have bit the dust then? KOL for a guess… They do put on a good show, saw them at the NEC in 97 – God, Mr Coxon was unbelievable on that day – best guitarist I have seen up close I must say … pity he left Blur, they were a great band together, but a couple of his solo album’s have been good (tho’ some have been disappointing admittedly)

Thought you would appreciate that Mr Musician, it certainly sounded exciting reading about tremolo arms and stuff!!! Man MGMT are good..and what a way to finish with Kids, massive song, crazy band!! Thanks for letting me know about that anyway, as I am now able to find all the toher bands I missed at Glasto – nice one Cyril!!

Yeah, Loveless is great but I prefer Isnt Anything – I love that tho when you find a CD that you forgot you had and it turns into a lost classic on listening again – money well spent! My bro brought some earplugs along for me, but they were giving them away free on the door anyway, I think that says it all!! It was just the sheer guitar noise that was making it so darn loud, as my bro coined, it was “brown noise” – its funny, when you listen to them you think there is a lot of effects, but if you read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Shields - then it would appear otherwise… hell, i didnt notice anyway, it just seemed like feedback-city, and the amount of speakers that that had facing the audience, almost a complete row across the stage – bizarre… I see yr off to see MGMT, damn man why aren’t they at V?...

No probs Gisbourne! Yeah, looking at it they are up against The Prodigy, Ian Brown, and Sia, so wifey cannot escape as she hates the other 3 more – ha ha! Resistance is futile!! Roll on Muse I say… I noticed that you had been yes, and I had read some of the reviews in various blogs of the gig, and felt shocked…main thing as you say being you spent circa 43 nicker on a gig, yet they were still being pretentious and missing out main tunes like Paranoid…and sticking stuff like the Gloaming in, WTF!! I agree about Radiohead gigs tho, saw them twice now – NEC in 97 and V in 06, the NEC one of the best ever I have to say… I myself went to see MBV last Saturday – fuck me Gisbourne, loud doesn’t do it justice. Never known anything like it, my brother and I could feel our internal organs vibrate during the “holocaust” section of “You Made Me Realise” which dragged on for 25 minutes!! Utterly brilliant mind, what a band….

Yeah, fantastic hair isn’t it? That performance epitomises all that is great about them live, just the bombastic, out of control nature of them…and revelling in Matt’s playing…boy is he a good guitar player, I bet he is another one who is tough to copy… you have to spot yourself in the crowd don’t you – hell, I was at Trent Bridge for the test cricket the other day and taped all day of it on Sky to try and spot me – once so far (hell, how sad is that!!) my brother saw Muse at the Wolves Civic back in 2000 and said that they were up their own ar$es…he was at Wembley in 2007 and now seems to have changed his opinion!! Cant see me getting too close to them at V really either; wifey doesn’t really like them but I think I will take her round just to experience their live showing…well, hopefully!!

Google is great isn’t it, for everything – then again, so I Wikipedia but I digress… Such a consistently great albums band – you can think of each album and a killer tune on each – Cave, Citizen…, Stockholm…, Assassin – fab! Again, Lamacq knows best… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNi1zeCbQgQ – this is my fave Muse performance that I have seen – had kinda grown out of them after listening to Showbiz too much, didn’t like Plug In Baby, then I saw this as it was broadcast, had to tape the repeat as I was blown away…rest is history :) That sounds great that gig, nothing better than a sweaty mess is there?!?! I am presuming you taped it for posture when it was aired on MTV?

Get in there Frank! That’s some serious web linkage there Gisbourne… I will need to research them at home though, bloody Websense at work stopping any fun entering into life here… ftjemdmjdsdasdasdd – apologies!! ;0 Yes I am a Muse fan, but obviously my computer hasn’t deemed them worthy to shuffle much since HHH’s inception into LastFm, and nor have I made a point of listening specifically to them it would appear…looking forward to seeing them at V, no doubt your good self has seen them live before? Best album definitely OOS, wow are there some tunes on there, Citizen Erased the best…discuss muse-o!! (geddit? Embarrassing, huh??)

Oh yes, lame really but I guess good at the time…perhaps :) Yes, Being A Girl was special live I have to say, so much power came across in their performances I always felt… God, Radio 1 must have a massive collection yr right, why not drop them a speculative mail or something to see if they could do that, if not for everyone, then definitely for you as a fan? Lamacq Live…gosh, those were the days! Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq – 7 till 9 wasn’t it every day? Brilliant as you say for discovering new bands, new music – you have to keep an open mind, there is so much out there. What a cool website that is – I have had a look at a few (British Sea Power, Les Savy Fav etc…) and they all seem to be streams yr right, but never heard of it before…some delving needs to be done!!! :) Thanks for that squire…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMIfugHop94&feature=related – relive Geneva memories dude :) I seem to recall the Legacy EP being my fave for all of the b-sides, Can’t Afford to Die, Spasm of Identity, Check Under The Bed (totally agree chap) … and again, the title song made the single complete – CD1 of the Six single too was pretty smart…God, Little Kix singles… well, ICODY had a couple of good b-sides in My Idea of Fun and Golden Stone, but the Electric Man efforts were paltry hey? (The Apartment – I am talking about YOU!) Fool’s were better, but shabby as you say, not a patch on earlier efforts – B-sides are lost treasures aren’t they? That’s when you get the true devotees, people who buy everything, cos your quality of output is so great…

Oh yes, Six is immense. The quickest 72 minute album I have ever listened to. If that makes sense. I’m just glad I got to see them live, I saw them after AOTGL was released too come to think of it, and yes, they did open that tour with that song hey – a perfect start – I think Geneva opened for them – man who they?!! The Gods of Not Very Much was always my fave b-side, but as you say, there was plenty of others that hit home, especially from the Six singles. Just checked out his website, read that fanzine interview thing at the top of the page – always seems such a nice guy, what a shame there will be no reunion though…

Thing with Mansun, and Paul Draper in particular, they always tried to confound their audience. I like that. You have to challenge the listener, even if it is commercial suicide. To go from the almost glam-rock of AOTGL to the prog-rock of Six lost fans who wanted Stripper Vicar Parts 2,3 and 4…but it was a far superior album. Lightyears better. You can reel off the stunners on there – Six, Shotgun, Fall-Out, Cancer (crap name, unbelievable song), and my fave Special/Blown It… all of ‘em in fact… I saw them live a month after Six was released, a truly unbelievable gig that was, one of my Top 3 ever in fact…and then they kick us in the knackers with LK, when it was ME who now wanted Six Parts 2,3 and 4 … bugger… that said, the “kiss-off” album that is Kleptomania is a fantastic goodbye IMHO … I last heard that Paul was working with Skin from Skunk Anansie on some stuff… err…..

Yeah, you hear that a lot with songwriters - how they have loads of songs that they started but never really finish them – the talented ones I guess are the people who can take 2 or 3 songs and merge them into one whilst still retaining the quality (example being pretty much the entire “Six” by Mansun for yr starter for 10) – Smashing Pumpkins huh…come to think of it, yeah – summat like you may find on the Judas O disc of their Greatest Hits CD…summat a bit more sketchy perhaps, but no less effective…I guess trial and error enters into the process a hell of a lot too, trying to find that magic chord, key change, whatever … it’s a bleedin’ minefield, songwriting I tell thee!!!

Got it now chap - like it, certainly sounds a bit more original than the other tune IMHO - how do songwriters keep churning out brilliant songs, time after time - i tried to pen a few songs when i was a bit younger - still got the words now, pretty cringeworthy - hackneyed, jingoisitic nonsense!!

Cant Stop Me Now!! Ha ha, telegraph’d alright mate!! Yeah it does sound very familiar the rest of the song as well, I am hearing “I Wanna Be Sedated” by the Ramones ‘an all…can I hear cant Pixies too? QOTSA? Who knows…Man it’s a myriad of plagarisation! Think it would need to be altered before it hits the top spot though, else the law suits would be winging their way to you!! Still, Oasis got away with it for the majority, whose to say you guys cant! Think its time you wrote a song too, what you reckon??

Ha ha, 15 minute xylophone solo – but in the right company, its like manna from heaven. Apparently. There we go then, I have been touched by the world of CR then as well – they sneakily got into my subconcious – that’s religion for you!! Wow, I can just hear the band “…and now for our encore, we are doing a cover version….”The Lord is my Shepherd…” … erm… “Jesus Don’t Want Me For A Sunbeam” would be fine, mind… Ha ha!! Another guilty pleasure you see… I was checking out http://hypem.com/ which I am taking you know all about in your fantasmagorical musical knowledge, and saw some Muppets toons on there…as I was brought up with them, it would have been rude not to listen, hey? Whether its for yr collection is another matter though, Mahna Mahna is a tune (it aint One Armed Scissor or Mistakes and Regrets…but close :) )

Praise the Lord, thought I was gonna have to open a bottle of whupass on you then (says the bloke with Kylie on his computer). Better to have loved and lost than not loved at all – it was worth it I am sure :) Your REM was my Oasis I guess, that said I had always got heavily into stuff off my bro, Happy Mondays or Nirvana or Faith No More, whilst Oasis I went my own way with I think. There is nothing better, even now, of picking a CD on a hunch or hearing one song and liking it and that it turning out to be amazing – even now, still makes me happy – you can get so lucky with music, it can move you so much. Christian Rock hey? What bands are they? I got a song on the computer from this band called Precious? Rocky, sounds good…but sincethen have learnt they are CR as well … hmmm… Prog Rock isn’t all bad though, it would be if that was yr only choice of music though…Muse, Pink Floyd, y’know the score…

Ouch. I’m Too Sexy for my LastFM profile…now that WOULD be an ace scrobble…maybe we should try for the most lunatic track/s and see how embarrasing we can get? Body…twitching….cant cope….no use…. ;) Bad choice Mr Relative, maybe he took Guy for Gay, who can say?!!? Nope they havent, lets be honest, have they ever really hit the heights of DM again really – sad to say, I used to adore them back in ’94 and helped me get over Kurt’s demise, but bar the odd amazing tune since, its all pretty samey and inferior now Elder siblings are great arent they for musical prowess – I got The The, The Smiths, Stone Roses, MBV, Nirvana…pretty much everyone I listen to up to the mid-90’s is down to him – we owe them a lot!! Yeah, lame-oh Britpop, I know I am guilty as charged too on that score…US Ska-Punk, so we are talking the likes of Len? Wheatus? Limp Bizkit? If you got the girl, man it was worth it!!! :)

I cant help myself mate! Everytime I see a dodgy song that has been randomly scrobbled from my comp, a shiver of shame rumbles thru me, then I just remember why its on there in the first place – the world is at peace again, then But those 1st 4 CDs were pretty spot on yr right, you would have ended up buying them in the future anyhoo – a connaisseur from the beginning I see!! Yr sis and my wife sound like instant friends, mind!! My 1st album buy was Morning Glory by Oasis back in ‘95, though I had been educated by my brother for the previous 10 years in all things musically savvy so I was lucky. “I Think, I Feel” … do YOUR memories flood back now?? ;) Think p’haps my worst single was Elton’s “Candle in the Wind” for Diana … what can I say? It was an emotional time…still, the therapy has helped anyway…didn’t have the courage to buy it mind, my Mom did that for me!! Groan!!

Oh yes! The neck of the bass is pointing at the floor when he plays it!! Dearie…Cant say I blame you either for not rushing out to buy it, hell neither would i…that said, I am sure this is one of the many many tracks on my computer at home so I cant be totally sure it wont pop up on my Last FM at some stage…but that is my fault for keeping tracks that I grew up with and still have fond memories of kicking around…when you get older, you realise how fond you were of that 12” Kylie Minogue track and how it symbolised yr entire being when you were 11 years old - if you hadnt already suffered the same utopian moment…it will come, believe me…. ;)

Talking of high-up, check this goon out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvcUcsYjoMU – not sure whether these would be before yr time looking at the 5 yr age difference in us, Level 42, a pop-funk combo from mid-80’s – he was held up as a genius of the slap and pop style of bass playing…but it looks frankly odd though the way he is playing, huh? (still, the memories of my childhood flood back – sigh…) Even Macca cant escape, he used to have it a bit high. Yeah Nick Oliveri, Krist Novoselic particularly…the lower the bass is slung round their neck till it nearly touching their feet, the better – way cool…but both have had unsightly beard issues, makes you think about bass playing after all….

You do get that impression from watching bands play - prefarrably the less successful the better, they arent all "woe is me" then and still have the fire...people have mentioned about the bass before and how easy it is...the sexiest instrument no less hey??

Think the scrobbling issue was summat to do with our computers at work – foolish things! Afraid of the Dark in my Top 10 for last week and Top 50 overall – stardom Gisbourne!! Ha ha, sounds like you have a fair amount of differing influences in yr band!! Still, so did the Beatles Will have to try and find this “Skull Heaven” track – sounds suitably random and gasp…. Fun loving!!! It may be a way from Dig A Pony but who knows, it could be your new direction (along with yr nursery-rhyme loving other member!!) ;) I look forward to hearing the next installments I tell thee!! :)

Man all of a sudden the tracks dont appear to be getting scrobbled! But hey, they may be raw but you can tell the fun coming through as well (Dig A Pont - nuff said!) - dont feel embarrased by them as there is the seeds of something better i am sure :) the playing by everyone seems pretty adept (nod to the skin smasher again!)One thing tho - the name - Explosive Force?!?! What was he thinking? Its a term for a fiery touch of botty wind really isnt it? I can see what he is getting at but... I just synonm'd on MS Word the 2 words...how about Dangerous Energy?!!? I have partaken in the complete LastFM AOTD experience!! Good stuff Gisbourne, that drummer is good, he needs signing up!! ;) The female voice adds a certain sweetness to the general mayhem behind (think better/heavier version of Paramore) - influences? I heard a lot - ATDI, Dillinger Escape Plan, PJ Harvey (really!), YYY's, Nirvana, Hole... my fave album would be SFFSV and Just For You is particularly hooksome and a personal fave. You should be proud dude, this is good stuff and most people can only ever dream of making and releasing music - anymore bands in the offing for you? Back to REM briefly, its great to hear Buck again - i could hear him snoring on ATS i am sure....the new album is a real shock but its filtering into my system just fine - coolio!!

Aint that the truth!! Seems a long time ago since the likes of Undertow and Leave … Around the Sun? Around the Block morelike… So imagine my surprise hearing the 1st 2 off Accelerate – nearly dropped my guts!! Man-Sized Wreath is like we are being transported back to the 80’s R.E.M. again… Now, I aint no player chap but I thought as much, the speed of their playing and the sheer ferocity of the sound is gabberflasting – Omar and the newbie Pridgen musically are superior to mere mortals apparently… I have watched many ATDI/MV-live tracks off You Tube etc and you cant help but smile, some manic shit going on there. So yr a geetarist then? Or a tubthumper?

Oh God yes, ATDI were amazing - the playing on Relationship, the Vaya EP, man its inspirational. MV are harder listening, but not without the same kiss-off - listen to Roulette Dares off Deloused, or Ouborous(sic?) off Bedlam - major heavy tunes. I think i will find out some Fugazi, feel the force and all that...an REM fan too, a major new album by them isnt it?
