Biography

Ade Porwal (1992-2010) (surname occasionally written as 'Porwol' or 'Porwoł') was a talented metal guitarist and soundtrack artist from Bristol, UK. He has been in many bands, most notably Anathematize and Jenkins Theory.

Ade first picked up a guitar in 2005, taking up lessons at his school. He quickly surpassed the expectations (and skill) of his teacher and formed his first band, Dead Fish, along with classmates Bill Collins and Ollie Jukes. The band practiced together for a period of time, but only for fun.

In late 2005, Ade formed another band, Bit the Bullet, along with his close friends bassist Sam "Woody" Woodgate and singer/guitarist Rob LeMare. The band recruited Greg Wante on drums and began work on their own music. Because of the band's ranging music tastes, Bit the Bullet's sound became a powerful combination of music fused with riffs and solos. Bit the Bullet performed once in a school concert in July 2006.

In October 2006, Ade formed Cerulean Sky, a Metalcore band along with Bit the Bullet bassist Woody. They recruited friends Jak Noble on rhythm guitar and Ollie Coghill on drums. The band continued for two months before Ade officially ended Bit the Bullet. Cerulean Sky changed their name to Anathematize and played their first live show on November 9th 2007.

In the summer of 2008, after playing shows around the Bristol/Bath area for half a year, Anathematize disbanded after arguments within the group. Ade, Jak and Woody went on to form Jenkins Theory, while Ollie Coghill joined Bristol band FallenDivinity.

During their time as Jenkins Theory, Porwal and Noble also formed a group entitled J. Unit.

On June 4th 2007, Ade's cousin Sam McDonald, who had taught him to play guitar and introduced him to the music he loves, tragically passed away. In memory of Sam, Ade and many of Sam's friends wrote and recorded an album, part of the 'Play It Again' series. The album can be found here.

Ade's musical direction turned towards and work, influenced heavily by Chinese and Asian culture. He composed various pieces designed for use as soundtrack music until he tragically took his own life on the 11th of October 2010.
